the title says it all. i think i want this hood but i don't know anything about VIS. ive done the search and found very little but everything i read says they are high quality. any suggestions, ideas would be great. thanks. o ya,

jason

I don't own one, but I heard good things about the hood. They wrap the entire thing in cf versus just the top like some lesser companies do. More cf is a good thing imo. Good luck. Peace.

$337 plus about $150 shipping + insurance. i think its a good deal as far as CF hoods go but im not looking for a deal, im looking for quality.

I have seen the VIS CF hoods on many other vehicles but not the pro's. They look very very nice as far as the CF pattern is concerned and from all the other applications they seem to fit super nice.

VIS is one of the better companies out there for CF hoods and have been around a while with a very good histroy for the honda/acura market. If the quality is the same in their pro hoods, which Im sure it is, you whould love your purchase.

May I ask if this purchase is for looks or performance purposes?

Is it an OEM style hood? I've been looking for one and that sounds like a good price. Also, do you have a link to their site or the shop you're buying from? Thanks.

I will say that VIS fiberglass pieces fit like crap and are horribble quality.
But on the flip side,I have never heard a bad thing about their CF parts.I have actually heard good things about them.
I don't know why they can't make a fiberglass part to save their life.
Matt:)

I have the VIS cf hood on my P5. It is OEM but hoodpins might be a good idea since the latch area isnt reinforced or anything. The fit isnt perfect but its pretty good. The underside of the hood has a lining just like the stock one so you don't see the carbon fiber. I can post pics later on if you want. Just lemme know.

pics would be great. thanks alot. i don't want o put on hood pins. just don't like the look but i may have to if i get this hood.

My friend told me as long as I'm not booking it on the freeways or anything the hood should be fine. Its nighttime here right now so I'll try to snap some good pics tomorrow when the sun is up.

This is a shot of where the hood isn't perfect. The gap only shows up on the driver side.

A shot of the lining under the carbon fiber.

looks nice man. your ride is sweet. how noticable it the gap? i mean you kept the hood so you must have been pleased overall? thanks for the pics

I got the hood from a local shop and I had to pay $500 flat and they were giving me somewhat of a discount from their normal price. The gap is only noticeable from the driver side when standing close. I don't think its that noticeable though but thats just my opinion. I'm pretty happy with the hood even though its not perfect.

Hood Gap

My brother in law has a VIS on his RSX, he had that same gap until he got hood pins installed in it. Maybe you should try it out.
Otherwise the hood looks great.

I've seen Vis hoods on bmw's before, and wasn't all that impressed, weave looked like crap IMO and its just a cf overlay on a fiberglass base, not that good.

Go fiber images if you want real quality. DG if you want real quality and want to spend way too much money.

You're obviously saying Fiber Images is the best because that's what you have. I used to think they were THE best, but I have since heard that they aren't as great as they used to be. Everyone I know with VIS says they are great. From what I've read on here, a lot of people are having problems with their DGM front lips, so that's a quality issue there.

Can anyone else provide an opinion on which of these 3 is the best choice?

I have the Fiber Images OEM style CF hood. Fitment is very good, no gaps. The quality of the weave is very good as well. I have not seen the VIS one, or the DG Motorsports one so I can't comment on those. I do have the DG Motorsports CF downforcers, and the weave seemed a little loose on those, but they fit perfect.
