2010 Mazda 3 GT
Ok so I was bored one day on lunch and I really (i mean really) went through the manual (had lots a pretty pictures lol) and I discovered something I had not noticed for the entire 2 months I had the car....

The armrest actually extends (stupid I know but I was like cool lol) so anyone else know of something that the owners of these cars may not ....?

The 2010 Mazda 3 does not have an alarm system from the factory. I lock the car with the remote, the horn beeps, the lights flash, the doors lock. If you reach in and open the door, nothing happens. I went to the dealer, and after they checked it, they called Mazda because they were stumped, Mazda told them no alarm is in the car....They even tried it with two other new cars on the lot, and had the same results...No alarm....How frigging cheap is that ?

That may just be a Grand Touring option, because the previous gen cars have alarm systems built in to the GT trim level.

Whether or not it's very effective is the other question...(someone did install the "motion" sensor from an RX-8's alarm setup on a stock MS3's Alarm system to add motion detection to the list of protection - it's a pretty cool how-to).

Try leaving the remote out of range from the car. I did it with the remote in my pocket and nothing happened. Then left the remote two cars down my parking space and went and opened the door and the alarm went off.
Hope this help.

Things I noticed on my 3

One thing I noticed on my Mazda3 is that the lock button for the power windows locks out the controls for the driver as well. My previous vehicle this wasn't the case.

I like the ability to lock the windows for passengers and only give me the ability to put them up/down, but what baffles me is why Mazda locks me out as well. At least there should be the option to lock or not lock the drivers controls when the lock button is pressed.

Another small thing I noticed in some of the Mazda3 pictures is there is a 'cup holder' of sorts on the inside of the driver/passenger doors. At first it seemed just to hold some random items but it's actually shaped to hold a cup securely as well. That saves me some room when changing gears (manual) so I'm not constantly hitting a drink in the center console.

yeah the cup holders in the doors are a nice addition ... and I love the LED lights inside the cabin that shine down on the center console and door controls on the GT version (idk if it is avaliable on the the lower end)

I have the Sport sedan (not the GT). I can confirm it too has the blue LED lights inside the cabin for the center console, door controls, and foot wells. It's such a minor/small thing when you think about it but truly adds to the overall driving experience. That's more or less what I tell everyone about my car--just the overall attention to detail. Love it! The small things just add up and make it FUN to drive. :)

One other small thing I remembered: the center console drink/cup holders has a removable rubber mat/padding that grips the cup and also makes cleanup a breeze since you can remove it and wipe it down.

Ok I know that I inititaed this one because nobody else works at a dealer and you literally have to sit and sit and sit looking for discrepancies and I found a BIGGIE_ As you all know Mazda did away with the side view turn indicators on the S-GT trim but noton the MS3 then after January delivery I noticed this ---The "FAUX" black pontoons on either side of the front grill are basically just for looks and are blocked -out and do noting except hold fog lights on the higher trim non-MS3s . BUT if you look at the EARLY model 2010 M3 S-GT's and hatchbacks GT or Not teh Pontoon on the driver side is a FUNCTIONAL OPEN air-inlet that cools ...now get this...a dedicated transmission radiator !!!! If you peer inside its about 4" x 6" and beautifully placed there to keep an even temp on the all important radiator --wow great thing on a compact car -amazing-well now they did away with it and ALL units no longer have the opening or the radiator - I got on the last and didnt even know it until I was staring at others that I contemplated buying ---If you were an early buyer of an S you have it --take a look-

early models have the direction indicator on the side mirrow; also if you drive with your emergency brake engaged the computer will remind you :)

I think there are way too many buttons on the steering wheel and they moved the most used cruise control buttons to a very awkward position.

I have a 2010 Touring model, and I don't have any information on the climate control system showing up on the high-mounted information display. Is that a flaw with the car, or is that only used on higher-line models?

Thanks.
