1. If you take things apart and put them back together often enough, you begin to do it in your sleep.
2. Get an amp install kit, it has everything you need except an LOC.
3. Get an LOC if you plan on using the stock stereo. Tap into the rear speaker wires left rear "+" is white w/purple stripe. "-" is gray w/white stripe.
Right rear "+" is white, "-" is gray.
4. The remote wire on the HU is yellow with silver dots. NOT orange with a black stripe (this is constant and will drain thy battery).
5. Disconnect the negative side of your battery when you start this project.
6. The grommet behind the glovebox can be cut so as to fit the power wire through it.
7. The backseat can be remove by pulling up from the front part of the seat in between your legs if you were sitting there.
8. The glovebox can be removed by removing the two screws at the top and then pulling the box out. There are approx. 5 retention clips holding it in place.
9. The door sills can be pulled up fairly easily. Retention clips again.
10. When pulling out the radio, use the tabs that the screw came out of to grip when pulling the radio. Otherwise, you stand a chance of removing the face plate surrounding the fm, cd, sat, med buttons. Scares the crap out of you the first time cause you think you just broke something. Not to mention that if that happens, number buttons and such could come flying off and a little white nub thingy that goes behind the button to actually press the motherboard. If you have been here, you know what I am talking about.
11. Mounting the amp under the passenger seat leaves absolutely no room to play with the amp settings should you not be happy with the sound. You may want to consider putting it in the hatch/trunk, whatever the case may be.
12. Wire taps can be re-used should you tap the wrong wire. Also, the wrong wire will not be cut so as to having to respice.
13. Electrical tape can be your friend.
14. The Mazda corporation is held together by retention clips. Which isn't so bad when taking things apart and putting back together (hardly any screws). However, makes you wonder if things are going to start rattling after being taken apart a few times.
15. That pretty much covers it. Tried to summarize things up as I read many different threads to get all the info I needed. The search button is your friend if you need pics. Hope this helps some of you out there.
