03.5 P5 - White
Well,

I was looking at some other car manufacturers sites, seeing what is coming out and so on, I noticed that is another car with the moniker "5" attached to it's name.

It's the Chey Optra5.

It's a future model (Here!! )

They are trying to take on the Protege5 in what they are offering..

Monkey see, Monkey do..

of course the P5 is still the king (a little turbo never hurt..)

Edit:

Will never hurt, but will probably have the fine chevy refinements, like shaking dash, ala cavalier, and the usual gm crap interior.

"There's nothing like your first car. And this zippy little freedom machine really kicks with a 103 hp, 1.6 L DOHC 16-valve L4 engine and 5-speed manual transmission."
(jerkit)

well, you know that chevy has to make money in whatever way possible...

looks like that's a canada car, though?

of course, i do own a chevy prism. it's not an awful car. the protege is waaaaay nicer. the only thing that has made me keep the prism around is the fact that it's mostly a toyota corolla underneath. at least, all the parts say toyota!

All chevy can do is copy or take other cars and rebadge them. The new pontiac gto is an austrailian car with a new badge, the prism is I believe a rebadged tercel, the tracker is a suzuki sidekick, and the new vet looks too similar to a hoge podge of import sports cars (3000gt and rx8 to start). The impala's rear end looks like the skyline's rear and the monte is starting to resemble the skyline in way too many ways. The matrix was turned into the vibe and the malibu maxx is gonna have a honda engine in it. These are the reason's I love to tell some union guy who says, "all he'll drive is american and imports suck" that the car he is driving is actually a rebadged import.

There are really very few import cars (which is why I love ours, it's truly an import, made in Japan!!)

Most of Honda's are built in NA. The Pilot, MDX, Odyessy, Civic and 1.7EL are built here in Canada.

I did like the GM I owned, 86 Pontiac 6000, was actually nice for it's time, and decent interior too..

Ford is not to great on their interior.

Chrysler: The viper had the same interior look as my noen.

I guess it 1 of 2 possible things, they precive people to be stupid, and take it that way, in which they are certainly right, as millions upon millions do, but as people become more and more educated, they will see the crap from the real stuff..

Just my 2 cents...

It's not even targetted toware the P5.

it's more like a tercel/echo with a backpack :p

king of wagon? p5? Um..awd and boost would be it, and that's WRX

Yeah it really kicks with 103 BHP.

Ok, first post claims 103HP. So are you telling me there is no drivetrain loss? That is impressive.

I went to the site and cut and pasted this:

"Chevrolet Optra 5 features a 119 hp 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes, dual-stage driver and passenger frontal air bags, fog lights, tilt adjustable steering column, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, clear lens "euro" tail lights and deluxe instrument cluster with tachometer. In addition, Optra 5 LS features remote keyless entry with alarm, power door locks and windows, cruise control, buckets seats, speed sensitive steering and an available appearance package (15" aluminum wheels, power sunroof, splash guards, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, spoiler and steering wheel sound system controls)."

Man, that sounds alot like the Protege5.

Nearly the same HP
4 wheel disc
dual stage air bags
fog lights
tilt steering
60/40 fold rear seats
Speed Sensitive Steering
Leather wrapped Wheel and Shift knob
tach
remote keyless entry with alarm
power locks and windows
bucket seats

changes
altezza's
projector headlights
15" rims
spoiler
steering wheel mounted audio controls
splash guards

wow, I dunno - sounds like the really just upgraded the thing. I'd be interested to see if they duplicate the handling and braking characteristics that have made me come to love my protege.

There's something very kewl about taking an on ramp and accelerating past 45mph and still feeling completely safe. It's also nice to hear first time passengers make remarks about how they can't hear the tires squealing, and then telling them that's because they aren't.

And that's just my ES - same setup as the 5 in the suspension and braking - only a few pounds lighter. You lucky bastards with mp3's and MSP's have it even better.

Next it will be the Civic5, The Ferrari5, The Bell-Jet Ranger5. :)
"The new Bell Jet Ranger5 comes with a 119HP turbine engine, carbon-fibre look rotors, altezza landing lights, optional chrome landing bars, and 126 cu.ft. of trunk space. It's everything you want, and more than you need. (MP3 player and power moonroof optional)"

I think they got the idea for the new vette's front end from the new NSX since pop-up lights are way out dated already that's why the NSX doesn't have that anymore, which is a great move.

As for this new "5"....hahaha.There is only one 5 that matters and that's the PROTEGE5.And yeah,I agree there is no competition w/ this "5".

As I was looking some more into GM's site, I noticed that they are calling they Aveo hatch the 5 also.

It's amazing how much the Suzuki Swift and Chevy Aveo look alike....
