somehow for a thread to reach this level of mental retardation it didnt surprise me to find it in the SRT-4 section....ooopppsss i am sorry i meant the MS3 section
I'll chime in:
1 - I'm happy because my wife wanted the more expensive MS3 to the alternative $20k new GTI.
2 - I don't think that having the woman staying at home is "the way it should be." That said, it's not bad if the woman does stay at home.
The idea is that both people contribute equally to a relationship. A husband keeping a roof over his family's head and a wife maintaining the household and raising the children is an equal division of labor. Women (and men) that look down at domestic "chores" are stupid.
Americans are so obsessed with equal division that they go way too far. The husband earns "his" money and the woman earns "her" money. They get pre-nups. The man has "his" chores and the woman has "her" chores. Did the guy forget to take out the trash? Well then it's not getting done because it's "his" job. That's dysfunctional.
You both contribute to the family. You both take care of whatever chores need to be done for the family. You both decide how to spend the family's money. If my wife was going to be a housewife instead of a surgeon, she would still have just as much say in how we spend our money.
I bet I know why it's different too. She's a woman, she can't possibly do the same job you do! It's all so clear now!
yes, this thread has turned into something i didn't anticipate. let's all cool it. there's no point in arguing with knox joe, as you won't change his mind. he's definitely in the minority opinion in the U.S., but hopefully his offspring will become more like mainstream USA in regard to male/female roles.
but, i have good news. i have discussed with my wife regarding the opportunity that we have now, with the prius in short supply, and the carpool lane sticker no longer available in california. we can get top dollar for the prius now, while several months later the price could drop by thousands.
so tomorrow i will go for a long test drive of the ms3, this time to include the freeway. if i really like it, i'll buy it, and it's preapproved by the wife.
