The wife factor

It's a battle of the sexes on Mazdas247! Only one way to settle this: Guys vs Girls autocross!!! (drive2)

I'll chime in:

1 - I'm happy because my wife wanted the more expensive MS3 to the alternative $20k new GTI.

2 - I don't think that having the woman staying at home is "the way it should be." That said, it's not bad if the woman does stay at home.

The idea is that both people contribute equally to a relationship. A husband keeping a roof over his family's head and a wife maintaining the household and raising the children is an equal division of labor. Women (and men) that look down at domestic "chores" are stupid.

Americans are so obsessed with equal division that they go way too far. The husband earns "his" money and the woman earns "her" money. They get pre-nups. The man has "his" chores and the woman has "her" chores. Did the guy forget to take out the trash? Well then it's not getting done because it's "his" job. That's dysfunctional.

You both contribute to the family. You both take care of whatever chores need to be done for the family. You both decide how to spend the family's money. If my wife was going to be a housewife instead of a surgeon, she would still have just as much say in how we spend our money.

Amen!

I bet I know why it's different too. She's a woman, she can't possibly do the same job you do! It's all so clear now!

Actually I'd imagine she couldn't really handle the physical labor portion of the job all too well, as it involves a lot of heavy lifting. Well she could, but it would take a female a lot longer due to the intensity of the lifting, and she would most likely be more spent than a good size man.

The customer service side is easy. Anyone could do my job with that. But you don't just apply for my type of job, you have to know someone, or meet the right person. Also, it's very hard to get into the business at the position I'm at.

My wife makes a s*** ton more money than I do. I'm ok with that, because she lets me make supper and do the wash.

During the test drive, she was pissed. Not at me, not at the car, but at the dealer. They are a rock bottom price dealer. The car's price was MSRP (this was late 06)
She was mad because she never pays MSRP for a car. There's something in her DNA that makes her haggle. (and have silent, rancid farts when her ass is near my head)
I took her home mid test drive. I asked her if she was soured on the deal. She says "Do what you want to do." I stopped off and got two hookers (female) and bought the car. She kinda gave me the gas face when i got home but after an hour she wanted to drive it.

here's the deal bro just go buy it, enjoy it, sleep on the couch, then watch her drive off in it when you join all the other 70% of divorced couples in america.............then do it all over again...

What was the topic again? Wow...

I think I purchased one car without talking it over with the wife, and I believe she still hates it. But hey, she still wears outfits that I hate, so I guess we're even.

yes, this thread has turned into something i didn't anticipate. let's all cool it. there's no point in arguing with knox joe, as you won't change his mind. he's definitely in the minority opinion in the U.S., but hopefully his offspring will become more like mainstream USA in regard to male/female roles.

but, i have good news. i have discussed with my wife regarding the opportunity that we have now, with the prius in short supply, and the carpool lane sticker no longer available in california. we can get top dollar for the prius now, while several months later the price could drop by thousands.

so tomorrow i will go for a long test drive of the ms3, this time to include the freeway. if i really like it, i'll buy it, and it's preapproved by the wife.

congrats, good luck, this battle has ended easily yet abruptly....... keep a close watch. she may have something up her sleeve..... she probably wants a new lexus......watch out man, everything has it's price.

the best thing to do......settle all the disagreements in the ring :)

Get some boxing gloves HOPEFULLY YOU CAN TAKE THAT BEAST!

i just hope this man isn't walking into a trap......... s*** always happens.."sure i don't mind honey, it's what you want, go ahead get it"..........sometime later........"i still can't believe you went out and got it.....what were you thinking? did you really think i would be ok with this?"........women are the reason psychology and therapy is needed

aha.......!!!! i found a key to the puzzle......it's like a thought map...or something. now if we could only put times of the day in each one of these segments we would know exactly how to approach, or even not approach them during that time. naw... we'd still fail anyway.

Sorry we crapped in your thread, dude. But congrats on the test drive!! (yippy)

My husband and I are on again / off again with buying an MS3. We already have an MSP and a P5 and while we like the P5, it doesn't have the "woo-hoo!" factor an MS3 has. But the P5 does require cheaper gas. So it's a toss-up. When we went and test drove an MS3 we had to leave the dealership fast or we would have bought the damn thing! LOL!

That's great news! :)
