The "What should I do to my Mazdaspeed6 first" thread

this is a great thread, im looking at trading in my mazda 6s for a speed6 so im trying to figure out what mods to go with so this is a great thread... the thing im wondering is if different companies products will make different power? like i've been told the cobb sri is better then the aem... if i do get a speed6 i'll try and help out with this thread and try to get as much dyno results as possible

Win.

How come there's nothing about exhaust stuff on this list?
Q - What should I buy for XXXX amount?

A - Depends on what you're looking for. This is the tricky part. Some people go for all power, where others want a good balance of things. Below are some standard suggestions for people based on several price points; $500, $1000, and $1500.

1 - The $500 'Package'
AWR motor mount - $80
Cobb SRI - $190
SU test pipe - $110
Forge BPV - $155
Total: $535 (yes, a bit more, but a good start for our cars)

2 - The $1000 'Package'

All of the above plus:
Whiteline rear sway bar - $180
H&R springs - $240
3 - The $1500 'Package'

All of the above plus:
Cobb turbo inlet - $165
AutoExe STB - $245

I believe Its bc exhaust would be the least amount of power gain to cost ratio I would assume

there is ;)

the test pipe is a big bang for buck. otherwise the exhaust stuff that gives gains (downpipe, catback, etc) are mucho dinero, and therefore not on the "budget" lists.

Is this list current? I see it's been a while since it was last updated; now I'm finally planning on putting some upgrades on my car I'd hate to base part of my decisions based upon an out of date list.

Thanks.

well, Joker, what are you looking to do?
Basic bolt-ons? full engine rebuild? Pratt&Whitney F135 turbofan addition?

that list, while a good reference, is only a starting point.
Check here:
SU (M247 apparently hates SU. PLEASE let that dissaude you from looking at their products)
Cp-E http://www.cp-e.com
Cobb Tuning http://www.cobbtuning.com
Revolution Performance Motorsports http://www.therpmstore.com
Protege Garage http://www.protegegarage.com

Many, if not all, have used these places to buy the parts for our vehicles, and they will have the most up-to-date parts listing. I hope this helps!

kahmikahze - we have had lots of problems with SU on this board, hence their banning years ago. Multiple members got burned by them and their shady business practices. Please do not encourage people to go to their site. Thanks!

I've never had any but good service from them. Don't dissuade me from telling my experiences.

thanks.

Guys, how bout taking that to PMs or another thread? I'd like to keep this thread informative and focused.

Curious, what is everyone seeing for mileage highway wise. I ready all 4 pages on Edmunds but I'm curious as to what people are getting and how fast they typically travel and what fuel they use. I was thinking about a MSP but a MS6 is better for winter and would make a bit more sense to me. I hear mixed reviews about using mid grade and premium. Right now in my family, we have 2 cars that take premium and one with regular so I was wondering if mid grade is ok to use on these cars.
