The Slammed Life

I don't think I have seen many people who slam their cars on sunk wheels who don't move on to wider wheels, lower offsets, or at least wider tires to get closer to the fender. As far as fitment goes sometimes you have to cheat, like I did with double front lips, to get the body line as low as you want it. Being totally slammed is just not happening with 19s on a 3 without a lot of work. The tire sizes are too limited. 17s and 18s is another story though. Once you start using smaller sidewalls you can really get low.

I agree with you all the way with you. I think you did a great job with the 19's though. I don't see a problem with it being 19's at all from what im seeing.

The point im getting at is that being sunk and slammed just doesn't seem to cut it. You receive no glory from it. It's just too easy to do and you'll be giving out number left and right. After a while the number becomes meaningless and the thread dies.....

Gotta make it tough and at the same time encouraging to be part of this thread. This is the reason why the original thread was such a success in gaining attention.

ok so do you think style should come into to play when judging as well?
that can be added but everyones style is different and its hard to say wellhe makes the cut but he doesnt all based on stance.
what would be an acceptable wheel gap?

I would say so. It'll keep the thread more entertaining that way. "slammed"= no gap, gap=low.

I agree that style should come into it which would be the voting process we discussed already. However, this is not the stance thread so we shouldn't eliminate too many people who drive very low cars.

I think part of the reason for more people applying and taking interest in slammed/fitted cars is because of the obvious trend that is going on now. People are getting into stancing mazdas more than in the last year or two.

THIS ^ Is freaking sexy. Love all the braces and rear link setup.

Oh and my specs in the pic on the first page are H&R coilovers with no lock collar and modified spring perches in front and no adjustment perch in the rear. The measurement from the highest part of the fender arch to the ground is 24" front and rear and the frame rail is 3" from the ground. 19x8.5 +37 Enkei RP03 w/ 215/35/19 General UHP in front with no adjustable camber and 19x8.5 +27 w/ 225/35/19 in the rear with maxed out SPC camber arms with locking nut intact (5 degrees approximately).

damn! leaves? thats low! but in a good way :)

and thanks im still not done back there! i still have more white s*** to put on :)

The 3 crowd rolls pretty hard. There are other pebble pushers with more balls than I have. I'm nowhere near as low as Mica3i (black sedan ON THE GROUND static), Lax22pearl (white ms3 with super advans), Shaw (red ms3 w/ rotiforms), Rocky (white hatch w/ fender flares and work emitz), or Austin (slammed on 17" mustang wheels).

Lots of good stuff so far guys. Leaves = a big hell yes. And honestly I agree with you Chef. Looking slammed is tough with 19s. I got to running bare springs in the rear & I'd still look 4x4ish without the lip kit. My car was low, but it didn't look slammed without the front lip and side skirts. With 19s it's easy to tuck tire but not meet the ground clearance look. And vice versa - smaller wheels get you the ground clearance easier, but then wheel gap is harder to kill. And then once you pull that off you gotta actually put up with driving it that way. The slammed life isn't for the faint of heart haha.

And I also agree style has to come into play at least somewhat for the judges. Yes opinions on style vary from person to person, but that's why the judges are supposed to be unbiased. Sure he may not personally car for the wheel choice or have something against cheap/rep wheels, using flares, etc. but he's got to be able to look past it and admit that the submitter is (or isn't) going to get a number. Also you don't need a unanimous 5/5 decision from the judges, a 4/5 will pass. That gives room for one guy to be stubborn if he absolutely feels it and you can still get a number lol.

Agreed!, I got my 17's on with my snow tires on and it sits lower but something about being lowered on 19's looks so bad ass even if I need the lip kit to make the car appear slammed even though with the tires tucking it looks high without the kit

19x9 +30 and 19x10 +32 Work Euroline DH with chrome faces and polished lips.

This is them. :)[/IMG]

Chef I like the ones you have now better but it'll still be cool to see the new ones.

Once you guys get the committee all figured out you should add that to the first post.

I'll jump on it for the 6 owner. I'm pretty regular in the thread too.

3: chefspot? I know chef is regular in the thread and he's pretty cool/fair ppls.
Protege: civickilla? He knows what it takes for the Proteges & is regularly in the thread.

I know they're all pretty unbiased too. See if ^they are cool with the huge task. Then we need two oddball volunteers.

I gotta hand it to everyone. THis new organization is great. I really think that the comittee is a really great way of deciding. Props.

If we really want to get technical, and filter out any room for interpretation, we just need specific measurements for each car, since a slammed Miata is way different from a slammed MS6, for example.
ill set the number for the millenias..... >:-) im officially slammed now lol. jk. wont work bc of what RB said.

comittee is much better.

how bout funk or circuit for oddball with ineedmoarlow.
