So after 10 or 12 hours of work and 3 days later I have finally installed my Perrin FMIC and I can say without a doubt it is the scariest thing I've done on the car to date...but its not for the cutting you have to do....

I've noticed that there are a bunch of intall posts mixed in other threads on the forum so I have decided to take a ton of pics to help out

First, Big thanks to Turbolife for the provided instructions with his kit that I jacked for my install and used as a good guideline.

I recommend reading the service manual for removing the bumper (and anything else you are unsure about) because if you break the clips under the headlights your bumper will sag and look dumb

so lets get into the pics, I started taking pics after the teardown

The core

The target, from here I removed the stock IC + piping, rad fans, coolant overflow, CAI, MAF, BPV, bumper and cover

Notice the power steering cooler that is under the latch bracket, I removed the bracket that attached the line to the latch bracket and flipped it around to re-use, its keeps the lines from rubbing the IC, Rad or other

The area to cut, I used a drill that is 3.25" which is enough for the coupler + a vac line to add around the edge.

My weapon of choice
dscn2079t.jpg

The result, I put some wood behind to make sure I didn't get the lines behind it
dscn2082.jpg

All mounted up

Hot side all set up, I highly suggest you tape up the hot pipe or your going to destroy your pipe, I needed to move the ac line out of the way
dscn2120w.jpg

Cold side, I really didn't like the way the a/c lines needed to move to fit the pipe so I pulled it towards the firewall and then down a little to make it fit proper other people seemed to have better luck but mine was just really in the way
dscn2121.jpg

Added a ghetto fix bracket to the ac line to hold it in place until I can get a new bracket fabbed

note the proximity to the brake lines, after bending the a/c lines I felt a little confident and slightly bent these lines as they were touching the pipe

The BOV

All reinstalled

I originally had my overflow bottle installed under my CAI but the cold pipe killed that dream, and I really hated the suggested install location provided by Injen so I cut the bracket down and installed it on the single bolt that was left from the stock air box

be careful with those headlight tabs people!!! they break real easy. i broke mine of course when installing the turbolife

Nice to see you using a holesaw to cut out the sections for the piping. Much cleaner imo, and also easier to make the cuts. Nice work, brings back memories of my banana....

"10 or 12 hours of work and 3 days later "

I worked alone and took me about 8 hours to fully install (not counting the 13 hours waiting for couplers for the MAF to go to the coldpipe, i had them overnighted from cali LOL, Crossover ROCKSSSSSSSSSS eff PG LOL)

But my install went perfect mainly :) just the coupler issue i had.

I really wanted to take my time to make sure I didn't mess anything up...but I also installed other things and fixed a few pieces at the same time too, but hey some are faster than others

Congrats man...looks great! How does it run? I see your venting and kept the MAF in the stock spot....stalling issues?

no stalling but there is bogging, but you just have to know how to drive it....I didn't want to relocate the MAF because of the unichip, I heard it dosen't work well with a relocated maf

but on the cold side the setup is already there for a standalone EMS....could be in the future

and she runs like a champ now but now every ricer with an exhaust thinks I'm there to race

loving it, like I said before big props to you for getting so much interest for your kit, all the discussions and pics you took really helped

i give you credit for doing that without a lift, but then again ive been spoiled with my shop.i would have done it without a lift if i had 2.but with air/battery tools it was great.3 hours and poof i was done.but i could def see 10 hours if you didnt have a lift air tools ect...mine was the turbolife which i am very happy with !thanks turbolife for making a great product!!i think mine is coming back out though i wanna powder coat the intercooler and piping..and while im there im going to weld in some extra reinforcements where i cut and maybe see if i can provide a little more reinforcements that will protect the intercooler in case of a light front end collision

not true, i ran my MAF relocated for a few years on the unichip, before i got it tuned, and it ran like an effin champ. nice going on the install also. wish i would have done a picture thread when i installed my FMICs.

so quick update for all, I have ordered new couplers to match the vac lines in the car should be here next week to get a little color conformity going

Also my original setup on the BOV was causing mad weird bogging, so I've temporarily replaced the the tee with a universal one that fit much better until I can get a vac block on the car.

Also when running only the BOV I still have mad turkey that now with the bov sounds really like a real turkey (makes ppl laugh even), so I've stripped the BOV from the car and have completely disassembled it thanks to an old thread here, the valve arm was a little stiff so added a little lube to it and re-assembled and will test it tonight to see if this finally gets rid of the turkey

also for those gutsy enough to do it...I found this how to for the new version of the SSQV to add the adjusting bolt on the end and make it adjustable once again
