The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Almost everything is easy to do on a Protege. One of the few benefits of having one.

+1, except make them fast and reliable (silly)

Really just need a metric socket set and you can just about disassemble and reassemble the entire car

Love it. For the most part the only odd ball sockets you need is a 32 for the axles and 29 for the nut on the oil thread.

you forget Corey has a magic unicorn motor with 250k+ still taking boost lol **running to knock on wood for you buddy**

Can't wait for it to go into MSP#2. Would be sweet to get it close to 250k without blowing. Still have close to 15k more miles before that happens though.

new cars are getting more and more boring. http://www.autoblog.com/2014/02/04/...d-chicago/?post=1&icid=autoblog_river_article

And that's very common for a P5 rear brake calipers to seize. I've replaced 2-3 with my P5's. But it's a simple fix and are usually available locally at Autozone etc.

The MS3 brakes are kinda a pain with that stupid clip. Thankfully the MS6 has different calipers without that clip. We've got a different stupid clip but it isn't hard to install.

Just did 5hr more of CF research. Next step is buying the list of supplies...
Can't wait to start the resin infusion process rather than hand laying cf and fg out. Plus it will look 100 times better. The biggest purchases will be the vacuum pump and a vacuum canister to hold a vaccum without running the pump for hrs on end until a part cures.

going thru my pictures on facebook and found this gem from 09

My protege 5 people. A friend is looking at a couple of them for sale but the one needs new rear calipers. Are they easy to replace or a pain in the ass. I know the ones on my ms3 are a pain but I wasn't sure on the protege 5.

If interested I have the stock calipers from mine I will give your friend, AFAIK they aren't seized. At least they weren't when I took them off 2 years ago. Haha. LMK.

Ooooo I like the new mobile version of the forum. Much easier to read and respond on my phone. This is nice.

Yeah, commute was slick. Fiat handled it better than I expected. Another positive mark on its report card.

Wheelbase is actually longer than the Miata. I left the ESC on and kept it out of sport mode. It just plugged on without a care in the world. The damn shift light kept flashing at me around 2200-2500 rpm tho. That got annoying, but I know... it's just trying to help me get the best possible mileage out of the car.

One of my big fears with getting the car was transporting my bikes.

BOOM!
