The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Chances are you'll still beat me in SM. If that's the case, I should quit cars and stick to Lego's. haha

HAHA, I don't think that is going to happen. I have never raced her car and it has so much suspension travel and body roll. Will said something about maybe co-driving the Miata so I might do that.

Anyone know of an inexpensive AWD dyno locally? I think I'm going to order my tune from Stratified this weekend but I'm just not hip to 4th gear highway pulls for my data logs... But I also don't want to play $120 for 4 pulls.

looks like your going to be out in seville getting those logs. There are plenty of roads out here for them. just throw some e in the tank to get rid of the kr from the crappy gas

Let me know if you find a place with reasonable pricing.
I too want to tune on a dyno

Well I'll want it tuned for 93 and adding e85 would throw off my tune. I don't want to hassle of trying to find E85 everytime I'm running low on fuel.

I'll just have to run up and down 21 a couple times... Oh, and the radar/laser detector I bought on Woot from the link Peaches posted a while back sucks. The dame thing throws so many false alarms. The first time I drove home from work with it (20mins) it went off 8 times. haha. I'm going to see if there is a way to adjust it otherwise it's off to eBay. The mini-heart attacks when it goes off are worse than just getting a ticket.

you just gotta get used to it. or put it in city mode. mine throws false alarms sometimes, but its something you get used to. they all do, except valentine1s and escorts i think. and im sure they mess up occasionally too

pick up a 9500ix. Got mine for 350 brand new off clist. But my tuner had me drop a gallon in the tank while doing my 93 tune to make sure the horrible kr I was seeing wasn't mechanical. Just that ohio has s*** fuel

Ordered KMD internals and a DP. i knew the mod bug wouldnt spare me for long. now i have to convince myself to not mod for a while.

for sure. I just like it for that GPS reason. I don't drive many places I don't frequent. But it went off half as much as Marc's on the way home on sunday and he has the 8500. Ans evan just said on his way home from work so its a normal road he drives on

The falses are the stupid radar cones on the side of the highways on the signs (for buckeyetraffic.org). It's why I haven't run my V1 in years. Got too used to the beeps and started ignoring them. I rarely got highway tickets anyways. Traffic usually lets you know who's lurking ahead.

I use an ancient cobra brand detector- it picks up false alarms, but it sees cops on the highway long before i do and it's usually pretty good about it.

For some reason, the detectors we have in our 3 and 5 will act like they're picking up a laser when we accelerate or go up a hill. Doesn't happen in the protege or our elantra...
...my dad assumes they never really picks up radar or lasers at all; they just have some crude sensor in them that knows when you speed up and the idea is that the alarm goes off when you speed up and you'll slow down.
My idea is the 2.3 is emitting lasers- i like my idea better

edit: i also have to add that i never go more than 2 mph above the speed limit, at least on the highway. I don't need a detector, but it's fun when it makes all the alarm sounds when i start up the car.

This is the one I haz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned) Like I said, I need to see if there's a way to teach it where the false alarms are. But Tessa actually pleaded for me to turn it off on the way to and from Mid-O. Honestly, every two minutes it goes off. So randomly annoying...

Brains, I read in some YouTube comments that certain batteries will make radar/laser detectors go off under acceleration. Might be why yours goes off in certain cars and not others.

No way to teach it. I have the same detector. Bought it in 2007, took it out of my cars in 2010, and it hasn't been back in since.

lol at all you people bitching about radar detectors.... no need for one if you actually drive the speed limit (or close to it), feel free to call me captain slow, i dont care... haha
