The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

i already drive like an old man... clean record, cheap insurance and saving a couple mins by excessively speeding just isnt worth it losing the savings i have on the insurance haha

From the sounds of it they estimated his speed at "67 mph" and the truck he hit at 60. Also said he swerved from far left lane to the shoulder on the right and then back into traffic and lost it. Sounds to me like someone was using the passing lane as a "I'm going the speed limit that should be good enough" lane and the person fed up with it used poor judgement in what he and his car could do.

But that's just me. I don't know how anyone ever feels comfortable going across three lanes in one fell swoop with traffic around, it's just impossible to do IMO. It's pure luck at that point that you don't hit anyone.

It scares me seeing people change lanes like that, let alone use the shoulder to pass. Way too much to go wrong, especially in traffic

apparently $5.99 for a haircut at Great Clips is a hot seller! They had a mini-crowd of people waiting outside their door when I got in to work at 9am this morning, and when I left work yesterday their waiting area was packed!!

it WAS nice hanging out last night at Sonic. I'd say at LEAST 100 cars!! plus motorcycles ... it would be nice if we could get our group to all park together, I noticed a bunch of Honduh's and Subies all parked together. We'll have to work on that. Like maybe meet across the street and then all roll in together. whatever works.

Hey Laurie, i'm not sure what car(s) you are taking to OCC, but 6Crew is meeting at Newburg Mall at 8:15am to roll into the meet together. Not sure if you wanted to park with a bunch of 6s

That sounds very Fast and Furious...

Once school is out, ill join ya. Is it every wednesday night?

I'm sure Josh won't think this is funny but we did...

My buddies wife found a brake hardline under her car last week and was freaking out thinking her car was falling apart. It was from some other car and he car is fine. But we've been teasing her about it so her husband, my buddy at work, and I took these pics to mess with her;

His tires are showing cords;

Is this fan supposed to be plugged in?

And a broken rear brake drum...

lmao Evan. That's pretty good.

All this talk about weaving in and out of traffic... you ever lane split on the bike? Although if a bike bumps into a truck, it wouldn't make much damage, but all the weaving around could and does confuse some people. Just sayin'

I've done that in a car you just have to be going fast enough so they don't get freaked out and turn into you. I've done the berm pass too usually just to get away from a situation though. I've gone into the berm just to avoid from getting rear ended when I'm sitting in traffic. constantly looking in my rear view to see if the person behind me sees the stopped cars. usually followed by a sigh of relief

Or you can leave enough space in front of you for you and the dumbass behind you. Even on the bike I very rarely have the need to get off the road... usually only if someone tries to run me over on purpose.

yea I just don't want to take that chance. I always have a car or car and a half between me and the person in front of me but I would rather the numb nuts that will hit me hit the other person rather than my car

If I'm having to slow down abruptly I always check my rear view while braking, then turn on my hazards to get the attention of people behind me.

The shop next to ours have to have their semi's back in from the road. If I see a truck waiting for a clearing I'll stop in the road with my hazards and flash my headlights for the truck to back in. I've had people actually honk at me and drive around, only to see a big-ass semi in front of them blocking the entire road trying to back into a narrow driveway. haha

I feel bad for semi's. People block them in places and fly around them and then get mad at the driver for being safe and not running them over. I always let them in or hold up traffic so they can get back into the lane they want. otherwise it just creates more traffic

Exactly. I used to run errands at a shop in a big box truck and even that was hard enough to manage, I can't imagine how hard it is for semi's on the road with these other idiots. My hat's off to you, taters!

My beef with semi's is due to them trying to run me off the road. I don't care if their rig is bigger than my 2 it doesn't give them the right to change lanes whenever they want and expect me to deal with it. Other than that I'm generally courteous around town and I prefer to be behind them in gridlock because they don't stop and just kind of roll along at a slow speed.
