The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Hey Laurie, i'm not sure what car(s) you are taking to OCC, but 6Crew is meeting at Newburg Mall at 8:15am to roll into the meet together. Not sure if you wanted to park with a bunch of 6s

we'll have the MS3. (Unfortunately?) our 6's are retired from long trips, the MS3 is our travelling car now. Marlon wants to be at OCC at 830am, I'll let him know, if he doesn't already see this.

Once school is out, ill join ya. Is it every wednesday night?

Yes, every Wed starting at 8pm runs through the summer ... the only bummer last night was the lax service at Sonic. Guess they didn't know 'we' were coming and definately didn't have enough staff to handle the load : / which added up to MAJORLY SLOW service, if any service at all!!

Well, I will have my FC, but its a bunch of 6's. You are more than welcome to join in the MS3. We will be rolling out 8:30ish, about 2 minutes to get to OCC and park as a group.

good luck! don't be afraid to ask any all questions that pop up in your head. I had about 100 for our home inspection

I'm sure he knows what he is doing but make sure he checks the attic area and others for proper insulation.

It is really nice out, too nice. I didn't want to come back. I guess I could eat out on the pick-nick table, but it's too warm for that.

An as far as the trucker thing goes, some people love us, some people hate us, and some people just tolerate us. With that being said remember without a truck of some sort you wouldnt have most of the stuff you have, and I personally can't stand about half the truck drivers out here. For different reasons. An as far as the job being tough or hard it's not that bad. Yes it is mentally tiring, and can be stressful, but learning how to handle that is what separates the good drivers from the bad, which there is a bunch of out here. An for the ones that stop for us or let us over its very much appreciated. Wish more people could do that. An these are my opinions no one else's so some may disagree and that's there right. Just wanted to voice my opinion.

My ex drove for Schneider and I went with him for 2 weeks at a time a few times. Definitely not for me, lol.

I also try and help them out by letting them into traffic and what not. Only split a lane once. In the smart car in NC. No berm travel, ever. And I don't even look at people behind me when traffic comes to a stop. Usually I'm already stopped in my lane, where could I possibly go in the few split seconds before I notice they are about to hit me? Lol.

I was in the right lane and traffic was stopping very quickly (everyone slamming on their brakes) and I hit mine and checked the rear view as I did and saw a car coming up on me too quickly, I veered into the emergency lane and they rear ended the car in front of me. Boom! I felt bad but at the same time, at least it wasn't my car getting smashed. It's kind of a hard trick to teach yourself too, to look behind you when all the traffic is in front of you. But I learned that in driving school when I was 16.

I too check the car behind me. Been close to darting into the berm a few times the past month, with the construction on 76.

Also, in Boston, everyone uses the berm as another lane, at 70mph, legally. That crap scared me when I was driving downtown.

And why I put my hazards on if I'm stopped in the middle of the road.

And even with a manual transmission, we tend to leave it in neutral at stoplights or stopped waiting for traffic on a left turn light but I try to leave my foot on the brake just so other drivers see I'm stopped and my brakes are on. If people don't see brake lights, even though the car isn't moving, they will still assume the car isn't really stopped.

Yep, ive made a habit of checking my rear view mirror when stopping. Too many people glued to their phones to trust that theyll stop in time. My biggest annoyance though are the people who dont check their blind spot when changing lanes. Ive seen too many people narrowly avoid a crash because they didnt see anything in their side view mirror and start moving over only to realize they are inches.from the car next to them.

Another good point, properly adjusted side mirrors. It took me a while to get used to my mirrors maxed out to the sides but I don't have blind spots anymore, but I still physically check before lane changes.

A good article to proper side mirrors;

This was also a pretty funny "Drivers Test".

^ i like that setup. You can actually see everything behind and beside you!

Edit to avoid double post:

Evan, did you get your radiator stuff welded? How did it turn out?

It does take some getting used to since I've been driving with the traditional side mirror setup since I was 16, but switched about 2 years ago and it's saved my ass several times. And I can still use my side mirrors to back out of my super narrow driveway safely. It's a win/win!

I always try to leave myself a way out! I always try to get to the far left hand lane. Like Evan #1, I always check my rear view mirror to see if I have a "fast mover" coming up behind me, just in case I have to move to the shoulder! Every morning going to Beachwood from Parma, I see some of the worst driving in the world!
