The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

The new Skyactiv is by far the easiest car EVER to change oil in. There's one screw holding in a 3x5 cover and both the oil filter and drain plug are right there. The only odd thing was, you needed an allen to take off the drain plug. A much needed change from that darn around the hot exhaust, over the axle and all the way on the back side of the head of the protege...

you forgot the part about the oil filter being angled slighty downward so oil from it will drip onto said axle when unspinning it.

Talking with the Mazda representative at the Auto show yesterday, he confirmed my suspicion; This is the last year for the Mazdaspeed3.

not surprised, for now at least. I'm sure they'll bring it back at some point.

Considerng that most Mazdaspeed vehicles had only a 2 year runs, this one had 6 year run....not bad. Hopefully they'll bring the Mazdaspeed 6, with the dual stage turbos, which will be our next purchase,

I never really had that problem. I always started with the drain plug, so most of the oil was gone before I attacked that darn filter. It's still smaller than a lawn mower filter, but I'm just glad that it's not the new canister style.

I find if you loosen the filter a little to open the anti drain back valve (and leave it that way for a bit), it will drain back into the engine and not pour out all over the place when you take it off the rest of the way.

Well I for one like the 2014 Mazda 6 Wagon and I'm very disappointed its not available in America. Foreigners get all the cool cars

I'll be mad if I get a new 6 and then they annouce they're bringing the wagon over.

IF Ford brought this over I don't know that I would be getting a 6 in the first place

I love how not 10 years ago most people wouldn't be caught dead in a wagon and now when they stop selling them here, people are outraged that they don't offer a wagon version.

That is why I bought my wagon, not many were made and it was a manual too. I agree most people wanted mini vans, SUV's and Crossovers. Glad I got mine when I did!

Love It. But damn I hate you guys buying these new cars. I so want one. Ahhhhhh. Haha. Reminds me of when I first got Envy in 2005. I was so excited with her. But some douche pissed me off on the way home from work and she still has it. Made me feel like a proud poppa. But disappointed at how slow it was picking up speed.
