Don't forget to include safety gear for your drivers when budgeting this. Sure you can build a car for a few grand ($500 car, $400+ tires, $1500-2000 cage, another $500-1000 or so of other safety gear depending on what you get), but then everyone needs their driving suit, nomex shoes, gloves, helmet, etc. It adds up quickly.
Really glad you wouldn't let me (since I offered to do all the work, and you didn't have to lift a finger) swap suspensions back when I wanted to...who knows what kind of problems that would've opened up and prevented the car from being road worthy again for your sister. *rolls eyes* (nuts)
No biggie. To the scrap yard it goes.

I think it's scratched up a little. I'll be back that way this weekend. (Or at least should be)

yeah, the safety gear gets you. are you allowed to have a radio to talk to the driver?
actual budget for 1 person (without counting the car) is about 5K, at least the first time
Just to be clear, Peaches, when I volunteered to help working on the Chumpcar I didn't mean I wanted it sitting at our house for a year. (Not trying to sound like a chump myself, just saying). As long as it can drive to the house and leave that same day, I'm fine with working on it at our house. And I don't plan on driving/spending money, just helping out with a place to wrench and my tools/limited knowledge.
ps- Phen, I'll give you a couple buck for the glove box door and gauge cluster face (mine are both scratched up) if you wouldn't mind snagging them. Or I can follow you out there and pull them myself.
(Most chump car orgs have min treadwear reqs)
