What do you guys think of these "extended performance" motor oils? I use Mobil 1 synthetic now, but for a dollar more, I can extend my intervals to 15000 miles. What do you guys think?

I don't like it, especially on the FS just incase there is something wrong I can find out a clue when I change my oil. By the time I reach 15k I might have a steam motor. I usually change mine every 4-6k depending on how often I race or screw around on the road.

the oil is designed to be ok for that distance, just not sold the filter would hold up that whole time....

just read a thread the other day about a guy running normal synthetic mobil 1 to 11k and then sent it in to get tested and still passed every test, so is it possible to do, YES... would i do it, probably not...
i have kept it around 7500 miles per oil change on normal Mobil1 synthetic since the day i bought the car

Not sure I would trust it. No reason, just don't like the idea of having the same oil in the engine for a year or more.

Most turbo cars come with them. Lower temps on anything that gets hot is a good thing. especially dealing with the motor.

It all depends on what your UOA says. I had a car running 16k oil changes with Schaffer's oil, and UOA came back great

I say good overkill investment.

Most turbo cars come with them. Lower temps on anything that gets hot is a good thing. especially dealing with the motor.

My 7 has one, and its NA, They do a great job if you have temps creeping over 200, if not, don't add one because it may keep the oil temp below operating temperature and cause other issues.

Rotory motors also burn a little oil too! Probably just depends on the motor and what kind of numbers you are trying to get out of it.

They burn it by design (using an oil metering pump) take the oil from the pan and inject it into the lower intake manifold.

I believe there's also a mod that allows you to mix oil in your gas tank as well in the RX7/8

For you it might be overkill, unless you tune the car to run hot (lean) and drive it hard for long periods of time. I saw a temp of 260 on the 3 at MidOhio, I believe its still within the acceptable operating range but I was beating the crap out of it, always close to the rev limiter. Unless you're having an agressive tune AND doing lots of HDPEs then don't, save yourself the trouble

Well I was considering an small oil cooler when I go turbo but that's not for a while and I recall Mr. Breese saying they were unnecessary. Just getting some more opinions.

We call it pre-mixing; adding two-stroke engine oil to the gas tank when you fill up.

I agree with everyone else. An oil cooler is only needed if operating temperatures warrant it. Rotaries use oil for cooling so it's necessary. Unless you're seeing oil temperatures above like 240 degrees or so. I wish I remembered the oil temperatures in my old P5. I think they were around 220 deg F or so.

Not a mod, you just toss 2-cycle tcw3 oil in the tank and go. I premix mine also.

Now there are mods that allow you to suck 2-cycle from a separate resevior instead of using the motor oil.
