The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Man oh man, oh man. Thank god my neighbor knew a body man to check out that MS6 for him....holy HELL was it a pile of s***!

-the edges of the hood were half assed repaired, didn't line up with anything, and the center of it was rusting through already
-all the gaps on the front end were off, due to the upper structure being swayed about 13mm (I measured it out)
-BUNCH of random shields missing here and there under the bumper, the wheel wells, and cowl panel
-pass side CV boot was ripped and spewing grease all over the place
-pass side ball joint(s) needed replaced
-both suspensions had used parts installed (there were junkyard marks here and there)
-driver side rocker panel was half assed repaired, the rocker molding didn't even snap in all the way because the rocker was still pushed in
-driver side quarter panel had a TON of bondo in it and was already cracking
-massive trunk leak somewhere, about an inch of water in EACH of the 2 little cubby holes on the sides
-half ass attempt at a fender roll on the passenger side quarter, much like all roll jobs I see though :D
-passenger rear door was rusting on the lower inside edge, bad
-misc. scratches, dings, and dents everywhere
-terrible paint job on the whole car, there was so much dirt in it, it looked like they painted it outside
-window tint falling off
-dirt spots all over the light colored interior parts
-all 4 wheels had massive curb rash on them, and the tires were all chewed up from being too wide for the car and rubbing
-headlight was out, lulz

I just couldn't believe the terrible condition of the car. And like....someone's going to end up buying that car eventually, thinking they got a steal on a cool car! It's so sad.....it pays to know a body man though when dealing with salvage/rebuilds!

He found another cheap one in the same area though. This one has 97K, but appears to be in better shape. They're only asking $9,900 though, so the price reflects the imperfections with the car. Again, said it drove nice and all, but appeared a little slower than the other one for some reason? He may go check it out tomorrow in the daylight, and I may go with him if he does.

^Damn that suck

used e85 for the first time yesterday in the escape, 2.99/gal vs. 3.46/gal regular. the average mpgs were a little lower but I'll have to wait till the next fill up to see how big a difference it was

The one on ebay has been there since early december, I was high bidder at the end of one auction but the reserve wasn't met.

He wanted to go back and look underneath of it some more (we didn't go today). He was in his work suit when he check it out yesterday. Sounds like it may be a winner though, he'd only have to come out the pocket $3000 or so for it. His wife is a stay at home mom during the week (she works 7p-7a friday and saturday nights as a nurse) so I ran it by him to ask if she'd be interested in babysitting for us M-W once Steph goes back to work. My mom is going to stay with us Th&F. I forgot to mention that we'd be paying her though, so I think he got the idea I was asking for a favor. lol I'm going to mention to him that he could have some added income to help with a small car payment! lol

Dude....what the ****?! My brother got me banned from a Trailblazer/Envoy we're on....or WERE on!

You have been banned for the following reason:Per IP tracking, I can see that Boricua SS is using this member name and PM'ing members.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

Not that I care, because I don't visit that site much anymore.....but WTF? Who does that?! There's been a mutiny on that site because it got bought out by a big forum company and it's gone to s***. Ads everywhere slowing the site way down, lack of maintenance by the owners, and inability to respond to problems brought up by the staff and members. A new site for those platforms has sprung up, and it got ugly with all the members leaving, trash talking the old site, and infiltrating it trying to get more members to join the new site.

Immature IMO, but still nothing I was a part of! lol

It's not that, I guess they figured out that it was him PM'ing people with my user name. Not sure why I would be banned for that though? Maybe they thought I was letting him do that. I had no idea though...

I'm gonna bust his balls in a little bit, we're going to a friends' 5 year old's birthday party. yay...

I don't understand, how could he use your username to PM people if he didn't have access to your account? Sorry if I'm being really obtuse here, it's the weekend. :D

That's what I was thinking too? I thought he hacked my account or otherwise knew my password and was PM'ing people through my screen name. He says he doesn't know what they're talking about...lol Maybe they saw he logged in from my laptop not too long ago and was recruiting people to the new site through PM's.

heh, this has happened to a few forums I was a part of. I think miataturbo.net is going through the same thing.

GRAND-AM To Add B-Spec Races

Jan. 28, 2012

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 28, 2011) - GRAND-AM Road Racing announced today an exciting complement to its two existing sports car series, in the form of a new "B-Spec" level featuring sub-compact cars in six races this season.

Currently, the six sprint races - planned for between 30 and 45 minutes in length - will run in conjunction with GRAND-AM weekends at Homestead-Miami Speedway (April 27-29), New Jersey Motorsports Park (May 11-13), Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (June 8-9), Watkins Glen International (June 29-July 1), Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (Sept. 7-9) and Lime Rock Park (Sept. 28-29). Each of those weekends will also feature North America's most popular forms of sports car competition - the GRAND-AM Rolex Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

Regional racers who meet entry requirements are welcome at each event, with a concentration on event victories instead of a national championship. No currently licensed professional drivers will be allowed to participate.

A total of five manufacturers have committed to the new competition, with the following models involved: Mazda 2, Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta, Mini Cooper, and Kia Rio. Additional future manufacturer entries are expected.

One of the fastest-growing segments of the automobile business, B-Spec is among the most affordable classes for entry-level racers, and is expected to enjoy great support from club racers.

Cars will be 4-cylinder models, with a target cost range of $20,000-$30,000.

B-Spec features showroom stock racing cars utilizing stock engines and chassis, fitted with a competition roll cage, racing seat and other safety equipment; and manufacturer-approved suspension components, tires and wheels. Weight and other variables will be used to balance performance among competing manufacturers.

Each manufacturer will develop an approved performance kit which is subject to GRAND-AM approval. These will be the only alterations permitted to the respective cars. All practice sessions will also serve as qualifying to set race grids.

"This new form of GRAND-AM racing will attract new racers and in the process, new fans," said GRAND-AM Managing Director of Racing Operations Mark Raffauf. "The cars are cool and the competition will be door-to-door, which should be a lot of fun for everyone - a nice fit with what GRAND-AM already has happening at every event."

Yea, same here. I had my Chevy Colorado for almost 7 years before we traded it for the wife's Trailblazer. Then I drove her crappy Cavalier for a few months until I found this site and my P5. There was only 1 major site/forum for that platform back then though, coloradofans.com (or canyonfans.com (GMC Canyon) would take you to the same page) for years and years, until a buyout turned it to s***. Staff was being ban Nazi's there too...so 2 guys started up 355nation.com. I've been a part of the Nation since the very beginning, and have seen it progress through the years. (got started in early '07) It ended up getting pretty huge, and it didn't take long before eclipsing cfans as the premier site for the platform. There were still those rough times where you couldn't type "355nation" on cfans, and people getting banned, and trash talking the site on the Nation, etc. All that settled down eventually though.

Then one of the owners of the Nation stepped down, so the other owner got into bed with 2 guys to help keep the Nation going. One of those guys coincidentally was an Admin and at one time part owner of cfans. I can describe him as the equivalent of Marlon here in the Mazda scene, he's known coast to coast. He's also an electrical who makes and sells custom LED's! But, before long...internal struggle forced out the remaining original owner of the Nation, and after that, it only took a year or so for the new owners to sell out to a big forum company as well!

Ironic, huh! hahaha It got pretty bad around there, but not to the point where a 3rd "new" site was started. I don't visit that site much anymore, I seem like an outsider when I do...everything's an inside joke anymore, but the guys say it's gotten better I guess.

Clubroadster.net is right now....

I bet this is why: (btw... Hell yes Mid-Ohio!)
ooh I'll be going to watch, awesome!

wonder if either of these is actually the one that was for sale over by Phen.....
