The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Hey Team Ohio peeps, my girlfriend is buying a new (used) car very soon. She said anything $13k and below and she wants a hatch. So either a P5, Mazda3 or Mazda6 hatch. Of course, I'm biased to the P5 but I'm already told her lifetime free labour charges if it carries a Mazda badge. So if anyone knows of any issues with the Mazda3 or 6 I should be aware of or keep an eye out when inspecting cars, please let me know. Thanks! :)

Her Audi TT is dying a slow death and I'm tired of ******* with it. Haha.

Really, Evan give me a call. I get S-Plan pricing from Mazda and Montrose, if she wants new. secondly, both out 6's have been issue free, Lauri has well over 100K on her hatch and I have 85K on the wagon. So it is a matter of what she wants, I 'll do al I can to help her out.

My 2 cents.
I would buy another 3, I realy like the Speed3 except for having to use premium fuel plenty of room in it, I have hauled a set of rx8 wheels and tools and a jack in it. Also have had 4 adults in plenty of times. the only thing I have done to mine is maintainace items (plugs, rear shocks, and just did brake pads all around) it has 67000 miles on it. I just used up my original tires early this summer they actually lasted about 30000 miles ( I have snow tires) the car is a tank in the snow.

Rangers I have owned 2 of them a late 80's extended cab w/ a 4 cylinder and a 5 speed it was a nice little truck ran will into the 200k range. my second one was a 95 w/ a 4 liter 2 wheel drive auto I used had it for about 80k just did maintainance on it only problem I had was a hard shift into second gear. I used it to tow my miata and rx7 to autox events. I would recomend one to anyone looking for a small truck. but the milage was about the same as my Tundra (current truck)

Miatas I love Miatas. I will buy another one some time soon. I had the best Miata for auto-x for the longest time which was the 99 Sport Package I ruled c stock for 5-7 years. I also had a 99 base that I added a limited slip to it was my DD for about 2-3 years I had a hard top and snow tires and only got stuck in my driveway but never on a main road or highway. that about it.

I went over about an hour ago while they were closed and checked it out. The body is failry clean, but has some flaws. I have never sat in one until then. I was suprised the doors were unlocked. I didn't realize you kinda sit offset from the wheel a little bit. I love the feel and the 90's clean car smell though. I'll go over and check it out tomorrow, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. If all else fails I'll just dump the money into the MSP and get her repainted and fesh looking again. I just don't want to put another 50,000 miles in the next year and a half. I drive way too much for the MSP to be my DD and autocross car. Sooner or later (praying way later) something is going to give and my only back ups are my 79 trans am and my CBR250R, which means I'm screwed if there is any type of fluff on the ground. I'll find out tomorrow I guess.

Well, along the lines of buying a new car, I was supposed to head down to Cincy with a friend to look at a '00 Civic Si (1 owner with 47K) but after Jon checked it out for us (BIG thanks, Jon!!) turned out to be an overpriced pile of s***.

Searched continued, and I found him a 91 Civic Si up outside of Detroit. Looks decent in the pics, so I called for him...he's not the most people-friendly person. lol Salesman said it was nice and clean, but had 318,000 miles on it!!!! They're only asking $2499 though, so as long as it's a nice driver, he'll probably buy it!

That's just hilarious to me...buying a car with over 300K on it. But hey...Honda reliability, right?

There are many cars that can be reliable. It just depends on the way you drive and the upkeep you do to your car. If some takes care of something it can last a long time. On the other hand 300K is a s*** ton of miles. Easy car for a motor swap or upgrade though. I would get that price down a little bit more.

Yea, we can swap a motor in that car in a few hours easy. Evan on the other hand.....................................:D

He just wants a stock, unmolested car, and that's pretty rare nowadays. So if he needs to buy a 300+K mile car to do that, so be it I guess. lol

You know, and yes I am late to the game, I have to agree with Levi on the 3 Hatch deal for Evan's significant other. They have enough pep when you need it and it gets nice gas mileage. I know Levi has told me he has gotten in the high 30's and even in the 40's for MPGs. Most of them I see are trouble free and if not, they are fairly easy to fix or simple stuff. Also, if you ever have questions about issues you can ask Levi. The man is a wealth of knowledge and knows that car in and out.

Edit: That is if people actually take his advice and listen to him... If not, you are an idiot.

i was very close to buying a car too!

this past saturday, a 2000 honda insight with only 53k on it...but about 2 hrs after i left someone bought it...i even took off work on monday to trade in my miata for it...(i wanted to wait over sat and sunday to think about it and get all the paperwork in order, but i guess, i was too late...)

oh well, one more year or so of fun with the msm until i can find another low mileage insight!

so at my storage unit, my boss has an electronics dump off for recycling. so i went back there and found a perfect tuning laptop. it is an old thinkpad with an attachment that allows me to use literally every type of data connector ever made for a pc.... lol. but it has windows 98 and i cant figure out how to transfer my tuning software to it... as it is not on a disc. should i just burn it to a disc and transfer it? idk. it recognizes my flash drive but i dont know how to install the driver. and the thing doesnt have wifi and i have no ethernet cord so downloading it from the source is not an option at the time. anyone have any ideas?

^I'm sure someone at school has an ethernet cable you can borrow for 10 mins. I mean they're super common, and anyone that even LAN's their xboxes will have one.

well, lol. i have an ethernet cable in my dorm room.... unfortunately i am not in my dorm room. **** lol. i came home for the holidays and am enjoying good ol ohio :)

No on the vinyl wrap. I prefer a clean single color car. I told April I was going to get it painted chrome and make it look like a giant mirror. It looks cool on some exotics, but I don't know about a MSP.

How long are you home for Adam?

ethernet cable, serial cable, floppy disks, get an adapter for an external HHDD and hook it up to another computer and just copy the file over, many options depending on how much you're willing to spend and how bad you want it now

I've got a cable but it's not crossed, or you can just hook it up to a router

vinyl wrap can be one color? and your car is already 2 colors so its kinda late for one color anyway. you have some nice yellow accents ;)
