The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

This might be a dumb question, but what is the difference between the motor in a 96 B series pickup and a miata of the same year? I want a B series for some odd reason and don't know much about them except for it isbasically a ford ranger.

They don't share the same engine as far as I know. It's a 2.3 in the trucks, 1.8 in the Miata.

Get a Yota! Oh, and the B(number) is the displacement. I.e. the only one I'd even consider is the B4000 4x4 5 speed. I will still get a Yota over it every time, though.

I'm just giving you a hard time, man, no need for names. (2thumbs)

sorry the first part shoulda been in pink font

I don't know how I ever lived without one! It's so useful, and of course so much fun to be irresponsible off road.

oh i agree, i have been wanting a truck badly for the better part of this year and have even talked to Nick a couple times about them, sadly the numbers just dont quite work for me right now as i still owe a touch too much on Whitney (stupid rushed mistakes when i bought her but thats a different story) if i could sell her privately it would work but id be taking a bigger hit than i want on a trade so ill just have to wait a bit longer...
one day ill have one and we can both go have some fun off roads (drinks)

Alright, should I just search under Byers in C-Bus and you can be our salesman or is there a specific location you are stuck in? She wants to buy something soon, maybe this weekend or this week at the latest. It doesn't have to be a Mazda, but I would prefer it of course. ;)

And we're not having kids. We will have a dog and lots of toys for ourselves. ie race car. Muahaha...

Anything under the Byers name I have access to.

Oh, and Winter Mode: Activate!

I thought you wanted a dd? or is that going to be your track car? rims are ugly, and the put some effort into making it clean.

I don't know that I would want a miata for a dd when I have a msp, but that's me.

You guys have me looking at trucks now, I don't remember them being so expensive.

^lol. If I wasn't in love with my MSP maybe it would be the other way around, but for driving back and forth to work and school it would be a nice car to have as a dd I think for the price.

I'm in love with my msp too, I can see dd'ing the miata since the msp is modded.

Wow, I don't like Miata's but that's damn nice for ~$4k with a 6 speed and LSD. But I'm with Nate about a Miata as a DD. But I just feel cramped in them and you're taller than me, Corey. But then again, they do get great gas mileage and the BP seems like a bulletproof motor.

I was in love with my 3, had only driven Phens car a few times but don't regret getting mine. I don't mind it as a DD except when my back is acting up, then it's a little painful to get in. Other than that, the car is a blast to drive to that keeps me happy :)

That one looks nice, seems like a good deal but I'd go over everything and make sure it's actually OK, no mayor accidents or anything. If you get it, I'd do a lot of maintenance on it right away just to be safe

I consider myself tall and I'm totally fine now after the foamectomy, and I can live with the compromise of almost no cargo space and having to play tetris every time you go grocery shopping

What sort of maintenance history does it have? Was it driven in the winter? Is there any rust?

Gotta get under there and check it out. Head over to the Garage section at M.net and look at the Miata buying guide for exactly what you need to inspect when you go and look at it. It's coming up on needing the timing belt changed again so when was the last time it was done would be the first question that I would ask.

Shocks might need to be replaced too, especially if they are still original.
