The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Good thing they didn't waste a real Porsche..

Heh... funny you say that. Know why they didn't put the 3.8L from the 911 in the Boxster? Because it would outperform the 911. Can't have the baby car outperforming the flagship. Same thing with the Cayman. I laughed my ass off when I found that out.

I heard Ferrari threw the testing of the F430 Scuderia somehow so it wouldn't put the Enzo to shame. Too much politics.

On Top Gear, the Ferrari 458 was 1:19.1 and the Enzo was 1:19.0. Just goes to show that car technology (and really all technology) advances every year.

Looking for a quick answer sometime tonight, LOL:

1. What years did the Mazda 6 have those 17" 5 spoke wheels with the little twist in the spokes?

I'm calling junkyards tomorrow to see what I can find in a 17" wheel to create a winter setup. What other wheels would you suggest that I can find dirt cheap? Here are my options so far:

1. FD RX7 16"
2. Mazda6 17" 5-spoke
3. Miata 17" (NC?)

What else? Help me out brudders! Thanks guys

I wouldn't recommend a junk yard. I called some before I got mine and they wanted like 145$ per wheel (no tires)! I ended up getting all 4 with tires (only two were good) for 250$ and sold the two good tires for 100$. I'd try to find someone with a 6 looking to liquidate their wheels.

Also, the NC miatas are the only ones with 5 lug, so those are the ones you'd want.

since you have both its actually a pretty simple install... rears are CAKE for installing both springs and the shocks... and fronts are substantially easier when replacing springs and struts together, you will need spring compressors for the fronts to put the top hat onto the new strut... id pm Nick (fijimazda3 or something like that) hes done several spring installs on 3 and its the exact same suspension between the ms3 and 3

Haha. Justine rarely posts and when she does she posts a beer link. Justine, did someone hack your account? ;)

Thank you i'll do that.

Thank you i'll do that.

the hardest part of the rear IMO is just getting the endlinks off, youll need an Allen key and wrench and if there is any corrosion on them, soak them with PB blaster like crazy, then they should come out pretty easily after that its swing down sway bar, and springs are out haha then just 3 bolts to get the rear shocks off

then for the fronts the hard part is getting the strut out of the lower control arm (might not be proper name but youll see what i mean when the wheel is off) best way to get that off is to spray some PB blaster, leave the top strut mount attached and hit the control arm down with a hammer after that you can take the bolts out of the top mount and drop it out, then hit the spring compressors on the fronts to get the top mount off and then its just repeating what you did to get everything off haha

Whatever.....

And yes I did. Thank you very much. :)

you are welcome buddy haha
