The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

yeah, I know you will. well I'm gonna eat some breakfast then head to my mom's to work on Audrey. Hoping to get alot done today. once i get the egr bolt off i can do the rear mount and then the other mounts to follow. I'm thinking I should go ahead and do my pullies before I do my passenger side mount but would it be easier before I install the front & rear after i take the stock out?

So I just got the word today I have to be in Kentucky on Monday morning, 7am... It's a 7hr drive and I'll have to leave on Sunday, but I have to get the rental car tomorrow since the place is close on Sundays. I'll be out of town until Sunday which means I can't attend the Barber race in AL. Damnit!

The good side is.... The 7 hr drive there and back is time and a half. :)

Sux you'll miss the race but leave early tomorrow and travel a bit out of the way to OH for the bbq on Saturday. :) Mileage may be an issue on the rental though?

We could have another Sonic meet?

In the past 2 years or so I've been on here I don't recall many meets going on other than up here in Cleveland/Akron... :(

if your just speaking about Ohio, than that is an accurate statement, if not then its false cause us Pittsburghers have had some things going on haha

Well I don't really check the PA threads, unless you post something in here for us Ohio cats. I came to the dyno day and BBQ last year, brotha.

I'd love to host something down here, and have been thinking about it for a while. I just don't know how to go about organizing everything and even where to hold a "meet". I really don't know of any "speed shops" but there's always our place - I would need approval from the wife first, LOL. We have like 0.6 acres of land so if the weather was nice there's plenty of space to do stuff outside. If not, we have a pretty cool basement that could cater to 20 or so people. Only issue is the driveway/garage area is kind of small and sloped so I don't know about a "wrenching" meet.

King's Island Mazda Meet sometime in the Summer?

Well you've been to the BBQ's at our place, Jon. We have a tiny house and small garage but fill the street with Mazdas. haha! I would drive down to Cincy this summer and I've got family in Dayton I haven't seen in a while anyway.

I hope we have more meets this summer.

you said you dont remember any meets going on outside of akron/cleveland... i was being a smartass with the 2 meets that were in PA lol

Why don't you C-Bus guys organize a meet? it's not that hard, buddy. ;)

what's july like for everyone? maybe a park or something?

can't have it at my apartment or my mom's house, If i had a house I would have one

and took a saws-all to the egr pipe

Damn it, Levi. Foiled again but your smart-assedness. (yes, that's a word)

A meet in a park in July sounds good to me, Nate. Just pick a date and I'm sure a lot of us will show up. Heck, we usually get 20 people at the Lizard meets every month.

Your garage is actually pretty big by residential standards, I think. Add that and the long, flat driveway and patio area and you had what, like 8 cars in that area alone. If people would want to work on their cars we can easily fit 4 in the garage and driveway before the slope gets too great. I have a lot of tools too, just not air tools. I'll check with the wife and see what she thinks about sometime this summer.

There is an AMAZING park in Cbus that we went to last year. It was the big spring meet for the TrailVoy guys. One of the midwest leaders reserved this pavillion that was secluded and had it's own parking lot. It was a really really nice pavillion too, not some old, beat down, bug covered one either.

Well, made it back to the park:

The parking lot should hold a few trucks.:D

Plenty of seating.

Two grills.

A playground for the kids. (well, grown-ups too I suppose)

And a nice restroom just a short walk down the path.

disclaimer;

I like hosting BBQ's and wrenching parties and am always up for helping out other Mazda owners and such. I'm sure there will be plenty more this summer at the house. I'm not trying to sound like "Wah, no one else hosts Mazda meets and I don't like people, wah-wah.". You guys are all good in my book.

sounds like highbanks

i've wanted to host something here but just haven't had the time to really look into it, but I was thinking something big like a midwest mazdafest type deal but am rethinking to something just kinda whatever till i get a better idea of what I'm doing

Aside from the fact it's a 9hr detour from an already 7hr drive... No problem!

Edit: Unlimited mileage on the rental.

It's only time, right? haha Too bad you weren't going to in the OH area.
