The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Hey Evan #1, Loaded a a dodge magnum today with play sand and the guy's plate read "BAS PLYR"

Sweeeeet. I thought about that as a plate a while ago but didn't think people would get it. They would think I'm a fisherman or something.

Phen, I'll buy the Civic a battery if i can borrow it for the swap.(naughty)

I'm not concerned about the battery... I'm concerned about the license plates that expired January of 2010. Haha. But yeah, we get it on the road, you can use it for the swap.

And when you get out of the car you'll remember how much fun it is to drive a Mazda around corners than a Honda in a straight line. LOL.

That's funny that everyone is talking about houses as I'm closing on my first house on Friday.

Honestly, I hate renting. I live in a similar apartment like Frenchy does. It's got decent space and a garage that's attached, but I can't stand having people connected to me and not having my own space. And Megan and I shopped for a good four months, lost a few houses, but it worked out perfectly. The house we're buying is dirt cheap, brand-new inside, and we already have equity in it from our appraisal. It's all about finding the right place at the right time. We plan on doing some work to it (back door and patio) but that will only raise it's value. And for $100/month more, I get more room, an extra bedroom and a two car garage.

Home ownership is not for everyone. People like to move around and have some freedom. Some like to own something and have a good investment in the future (hopefully). Not looking forward to doing a mountain of paperwork and a large chunk of money for my DP, but I know I'll make it back later on.

I can help with the deck, or watch you work like a typical mazda install.

Money, money, money.... Money! Can't wait for the weekend/more than 3-4 hrs a sleep a night. This week BLOWS! Except for my tires coming in the mail.

I'm loosing faith in Leipolds. They just quoted me $160-$180 to mount and balance my 215/40-17's to my ASA wheels. MotoMotion (who I would rather take it to anyway but is almost an hour away) said $25 a piece, no problem and they do great work. And Leipolds said no alignments for lowered cars. They have a laser alignment system but said it doesn't work right with lowered cars. Which sounds like BS since the boys in Modified Magazine just aligned a slammed Civic with the laser system. Doesn't look like they will be getting much more business of mine... Boo.

Anyone know a good shop for an alignment in Akron? My car is only lowered on Tein springs and isn't slammed.

it's official, I am at the point of no return. Radiator/smic is out, trying to figure out how to route the pipes, not sure on the intake mani but I'll figure it out

You want to repave your rental driveway?

The driveway currently is stone. I would like to pave it and if I can talk my landlord into it, maybe get paid to pave it as well. I was also thinking about talking to him about purchasing the house from him eventually.

I can help you out man. I've done a couple FMIC's on MSPs. Shoot me a PM with details.

That's retarded!! I got my 235/40/18 tires mounted to my RX8 wheels for $25 a tire. It was about $106 total after tax. I would assume it's harder to mount my tires to my bigger wheels, but maybe not. Could they be charging you more since your wheels are aftermarket wheels and mine are oem-looking wheels????

My buddy is a mechanic at Tallmadge Collision Center and he mounts/balances my tires and I know he can 100% do an alignment on a lowered car with the laser machine they have. I'd recommend checking out them. If you're interested call 330-630-2188 and ask for Justin in the mechanical department. He should give you a decent quote.

Conrad's in Akron/Ellett store......they'll do custom alignments. I wil call my guy and see what he has open. He is off today , but will be in tomorrow. Normally I get a custom alignment for $50.00 and have my tires and mounted and blanced for $10.00 each......I will see if I can get you the same pricing for you guys.

Yeah. Conrads are good folk. I remember talking to Brian at Daytona last year for a while.

so look at it like this, say your rent is 425 a month over the last 4 years thats over 20k that could be going into something that would actually be your own, instead its like dumping that 20k down the drain with nothing to really show

well... if you would have bought a house 4 years ago... you would probably be more than 20K in the hole right about now.

that being said, now is the time to buy.... i did last year, and got the 8k tax credit. woot free money! (not really free, but a lot of my own back at least)
