I thought for sure your finace was named "Audrey" since you named your car that, Nate. My buddy bought a $1400 ring for his finace and I thought that was expensive. I hope Amber drives a 92 Ford Fiesta or a Geo Metro. heh-heh.

yeah i hope (when it comes to that time) that my significant other doesnt believe in the whole "3 months pay for an engagement ring" bulls*** cause i sure as hell wont be able to afford that LOL (plus 3 months pay is a legit down payment on a house, which is much more beneficial IMO than some rock on the womans finger haha)

HA! the last nutjob I dated drug me into a jewelry store and was oggling over a $12k ring. Good thing I kicked her to the curb.
Could be worse... I ended up buying 3 rings for my ex. None were good enough for her but the last one. ****** had 27 stones in it.

I didn't want to them to have the same name so when i cursed at the car Amber can't get mad at me. It's an 01 Focus with over 130K, dents on almost every panel, rear window that's stuck with an inch crack in it and a check engine light that has been on for over 3 years. I can't see anybody giving more than $500 for it unless it was a minimum trade-in kinda thing.

She said she didn't want anything big but how many times am I gonna buy an engagment ring? Plus I know Amber will never trade-up or anything like that so I went as big as I could. I had never shopped for a ring before so I was kinda shocked how much they were.

yea it was more meant that 3 months pay = > 8k for me and id rather spend half that on a ring and the other half towards a house, paying off debts or putting it towards the wedding/honeymoon or something thats actaully going to be more beneficial...
im not going to go and get some little ring or anything like that but a 5k ring + > 3k to use towards a wedding/honeymoon/house expense (or something of that nature) would be more appealing to me than > 8k on a ring alone
