The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Damn you guys have been busy this weekend! I wish I could get out to see you all, but I need to work and make money plus finals week at school has left me crazy busy!

Good news for next semester-I'll be student teaching at Revere Middle School (8th grade American History). This means 7-3 Mon-Fri workdays (minus the pay, LOL) for 16 weeks. That may or may not free up some evening time, although I still need to find time to work for actual money rather than do a freebie. Gotta make the car payment, you know?

Keep workin' guys. I'd comment on everybody's s*** individually, but you guys were gettin' it done! The Evans, Pablo, Wes...everything looks good and I think your decisions are correct!

HOLEEEEEEE s***, I'm going bald.... LOL

LMS is very professional, we have uniforms. The header install was easier than I was lead to believe, mostly because I didn't want to keep the stock unit so we just cut the flex pipe off, header came right out. The worst part was putting the new flex pipe in, and wrapping the vibrant, I'm still blowing fiber glass out of my nose. I also changed my rear motor mount (TRZ w/race bushing), man I can feel the vibes. Too bad it was snowing, haven't been able to feel the power change but the sound is awesome ROTFL.

Your car pulls like a friggin freight train compared to mine.. and you were only getting traction in 3rd.. uphill.. That makes me really excited for the ZE, in a lighter car, and hopefully about 40-ish more horses at the wheels.. =)))

While we are on the subject of new toys..... I picked up this 86 Prelude SI for a winter rally car. Overall its very solid, just some small bits of surface rust. The interior is clean, never smoked in. It is a blast to drive! Not the fastest thing, but it handles corners great. Very easy to toss around on back roads and make one feel like Colin McRae.

so, I did some research an technically I can get a ticket for being so loud, mostly if someone reports me. I don't know if a cop would stop me for that, does anybody have a cop friend that would be able to confirm that?

Wanna make sure, I can't wipe the stupid ass grin off my face after I get on it (rlaugh)

I'm guessing it would be the same ticket issued for people who don't have mufflers or exhaust. It's a noise ordinance thing or something.

Can someone find me some decent-looking 16" hubcaps, preferably Mazda-badged, I would appreciate it. Nothing looks good and they're all like $45+ on eBay. Who pays that much for plastic covers??

go to Wal-mart and get some spinners!

Prelude looks clean, good find there

Neons are all but gone. Only have two bulbs and I'm going to wire them up for somewhere in the house, like in the garage or something.

Thanks for snapping pics again, Wes. And for the record, Wesley actually does do work at LMS too, not just take pics. And we were joking that in all the install pics we're always wearing our "work uniforms" since we don't want to get the rest of our clothes greasy.

Pablo, your car sounds mean, man. I'm not sure if I should post the video or not since technically you were speeding and I don't want a mod to think we were street racing. But I'll email them to you in a tic.

Sean, congrats on the Prelude! How much did you pay for it? Or did I miss that part... I might buy a beater to get to and from work (10min drive).

Chipmunk, congrats on the "job", buddy.

Evan #2, did Leipolds treat you well? Nice looking shift knob too. I've got the same one but the smaller version, that's why they call me "Lady Hands.". Haha. ps- there's no need to turn your rotors if you're not getting any vibes when you apply the brakes. They'll be fine, no worries.

If you did get pulled over, I'd tell the officer you just got a hole in the exhaust and didn't get to fix it yet, or at least play dumb and act like you think it's that, and maybe you can get a repair order, or whatever, and just put another resonator in. Like if your windows are too dark, they just tell you to take it off, they don't smash your windows. Well, I wouldn't put it past them, but I haven't heard of that yet.

Yup, sometimes I hold the flashlight, too

Just make sure you follow the directions for how to properly bed the pads in. It probably depends on the pad, but it usually calls for several high speed brakes in a row, followed by parking the car at home with the ebrake off! so that the pads don't melt to the rotors over night.

Car was $500 bucks. 140k, original owners. It was not ran in over a year due to a blown head gasket. So far I have replaced the head, intake, exhaust, and valve cover gaskets. Timing belt was done at 120k and it looked good so I left it. New fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter. All new brakes, rotors, calipers, pads, and rubber lines were then fitted. They were sized in rust from sitting outside. New Ball joints and tie rod ends. It still needs an Idle Air Control Valve. When warming up the idle bounces between 1500 and 800 for about 5min before it settles down. Because it's a honda, all the parts are cheap thank god. I have $600 in parts, and $75 for an alignment in it. They were able to take the front camber from the stock 0 to -1.5 degrees. The upper ball joint is fitted to the a arm by a bracket with two bolts. When taking the old off, I got excited to see that it could slide back and forth for camber adjustment. Overall I really happy with the car.

Sounds like good cheap fun! Great price, looks like it's in great shape for the year and mileage, too! It's carbed?

FI baby! It's the SI, the regular version was twin carbed. The carb made 100hp and the SI 110. It still has a mess of vacuum lines. It even has a vacuum advance on the distributor!

Ugh, I hated those vacuum lines on the old Hondas. Such a pain if something goes wrong, but that's a damn clean 'Lude! So now I know 2 folks down in Columbus with older Preludes as daily drivers.

I guess I'll bother the folks here since most of you all know me.

It was awesome to have Marlon and Lauri here this weekend at my new place. Meeting up with Tom Long and Eric Meyer was a blast! Showing Tom how a heavier shifter knob can be a difference in shifting as well as having Eric ride in my car on the way to dinner will be completely memorable.

So any of you Team Ohio people are more than welcome to crash at my place if you plan on doing stuff at Road Atlanta. I'm about 30 mins from the track.
