The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Did you notice smoke from the Miata when you were behind me? One time my friend told me he saw white smoke, that I was burning coolant, but I think he's full of crap (especially since oil/coolant wasn't contaminated and my compression checked out ok). I lost at least a quart of oil on this trip...

Nope...not that I could see. Only smoke I saw during the entire day was from the MP3.

Yeah. That cat was on his 4th FS-DE. And that motor he rebuilt 600 miles ago... :(

Jeff, I think you and I got the goof

Pickedup my gentle used KSport RR coilovers the other day. Can't wait to install them next spring or sooner.

I saw that, too.. I don't think I'd rebuild a motor with stock internals.. Or turbo an FS to start with, but whatever. It's all fun and games til you get the zoom zoom boom.

That's pretty bad we're all like "man, was I smoking?!"

One goof I am happy to have! lol Although....I did notice some oil loss Friday.....added two qts of the dino before the meet. Last oil change was two months and just over 3k miles. After the cruise it's now about 3500 miles. :) VC gasket area is clean, no puddles and no smoke (other than the white stuff until the car wams up now that the cooler weather has arrived)....going to keep my eyes on it.

Car is in the shop. I think when I put my new oil return line on, I routed it with too much restriction and cause the oil to simply go back to the turbo. Mechanic is checking everything out and hopefully I don't have to get a new turbo. Oh the joys of having a modified daily driver

I'm starting to ponder whether coilovers or turbo build should come first. Maybe a job should be the first step... haha

lift kit to fit 26's, fish tank in trunk, 50" plasma mounted in the underside of hood, invader body kit, a sick stereo, walmart stick ons, lots of cool stickers with mad JDM "angled look" giant ass wing then neons then job then coilovers then boost

ok

Haha! Gotta love Team Ohio...

Steve, go KL. I plan on documenting everything and will basically write up a How-To when I'm done in the spring. It's really not too expesnive since we already have FS-DE's and can swap a lot of parts over. Just give it some thought. But if you do go turbo, I agree with Chris. Rebuild, then turbo. Or buy my FS-DE as a spare. ;)

depending on your power goals, corksport sells the fs-ze pistons for an n/a fs build.

They're more aggressive, but if you're going to put any kind of real money/effort into an NA build, I'd go with something higher comp than just the fsze pistons. They're 'only' like 10.4:1 I believe. That's stock for a lot of Hondas...
