The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I agree, Wes. Cars just keep getting heavier and heavier and the performance keeps suffering. Did anyone see that episode of TopGear when they drag raced all VW GTi's and the old 1988 gen won? (I'm sure Phen will correct my year if I'm wrong. He used to have one and loved it.)

I just read an article on the new Mazda2 that weighs 2350lbs. Yay! I'm all about lightweight, small cars. I would love to have an old Mini with a B16 in it.

Just thought I would throw this out there to vent. Going back to college after working 2 jobs for the past 4 years sucks. Now I have 1 job (fulltime), full time student, 2 kids = running on 3 hours sleep during the week sucks. Thank God for weekends, beer, and football season. Otherwise I would have take up playing lawn darts with myself. Good times:)

It was till the darts went through the liner. Those things are expensive to have drained, repaired and filled.

It's was an 84 ;) 1st gen.

The 2 may be replacing the P5 if I'm here long enough.

And the B16 mini is a beast... so much so that it's almost too much power for the little car.

Classes started and parking freaking sucked!

Good morning, Phen. But the Mazda2 has a 1.5liter motor with 100 crank HP. Ouch. And you're not allowed to buy anymore cars til you sell one. or two. or three. or four...

^^^I can haz BMW that sits, untouched, in the backyard? It needs restored to its glory days...It's a 2002, no? I'm no expert, but I would just throw out a guess of 1971 BMW 2002? (I have no clue, so please don't hate...but I did take a picture of it and send it to my buddy, who is a Bimmer fan and his dad has a newer model 2002 that sits in their garage.)

edit: a little research--its either a 1964-1971 BMW 1800 or a 1968-1976 BMW 2002....I think it's somewhere it that range....

James, I heard it was a 2002. If you end up with it, you need to do it up and turbo it in the Chamonix racing colors. I saw a real one go on ebay for over 60k iirc...

And here's the youtube vid of the MK1 VW versus the new fat one. It's quite amusing and quite shameful for the automakers.

Evan, don't write the 2 off so quickly. If Mazda manages to pull off the MS2 like I'm sure everyone here is hoping, it'll be a real winner, I think. Even with "only" 170 hp it would really fly. The problem is price and where it'll fit into the market..

It's a '70 2002. Here's the fun part. They only made 700 automatics in 70. On top of that, they only made 380 in the blue color that it once was. My uncle offered me some cash for it, but I can't get ahold of him. $400 and sure as s***, drag it out of there. Only issue is we don't know where the title is. Working on that part.

I had many plans for it, but being the elitist that I can be... once I found out how rare it was, all my plans got shot in the ass. The transmission tunnels of the automatic cars are wider so they'll accept a 5 speed much easier than the stock 4 speed cars. But alas, desire went down hill. Between that car and my dad's previous two Maseratis (they've been crushed and scrapped) there have been many project cars in my family that went nowhere.

Getting a title shouldn't be to difficult, If you're the title holder or you can get the title holder to go with you, you can get it re-issued. If neither of those are possible, It can be re-titled if it has sat on you property for X amount of years. I don't remember how many years it is though. The big problem is that you're in China. Once you're back it should be a snap.

After getting the car, I never got the title work done. There lies part of the issue. My dad should have it somewhere.

Oh... and Evan... 105 new crank HP in a 2400 lb car is a bit better than 130 beat up crank hp in a 2800 lb car, no?

What are you, his wife? The man can have as many cars as he wants.

I want a project car but there is no room left at our house... :(
We have the BMW, 2 P5's, the Civic, the Miata and Kevins FC. The back of our house looks like a used car lot. Haha

Touche.

I'm gonna have a garage sale of sorts. These are things I would like to get rid of as I'll be moving in the next few months. I have a 36" RCA CRT tv that works just fine, room mate brought a 42" Vizio so have stored the other. Yakima roof rack for a Pontiac Vibe, not sure what other vehicle it is compatible with. Two bike racks that attach to the Yakima roof rack. As well as my Vibe needs a new home. I might have some other things if I find them but where clothing is concerned I normally donate them instead of sell them. Anyone interested in anything just shoot me a pm or text/call. No rush but thought I'd give people I know first dibs.
