The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

The Smackdown is an awesome event to watch, or participate in. I did it once. I miss it. Haha.

Ehhh....I really want black but depending on the price: If I can get 'em and powdercoat/paint (whichever is safer) them for less than buying a brand new set...

What Enkei Model--I love the EKM3, but like I said, I want black.

For some reason, I don't like gunmetal on black because it is a dark car with "sort of" dark wheels....either go silver, black, or bronze....

I'll PM you details.

Thanks Phen

I wish I could make more Sunday events... Sunday is the house cleaning/housework chore day and takes up at least until 2 or 3 pm....

After the tuneup I am looking to purchase rims. Here are my top choices:

NEW Enkei Imola Black 18x8 +50 22.1 lbs (about $700 mounted)
NEW Enkei PF01 Black 18x7.5 +xx 18.1 lbs (About $1400 mounted--too expensive but dream wheels!)
NEW Rota Torque Black 18x8.5 +45 WEIGHT UNKNOWN (about $900 mounted)

USED 18 Work Emotion CR KAI Black---about $1000 mounted
USED 18 Enkei RPF1 Black---about $1000 mounted
USED 18 OZ Ultraleggera Black---about $1000 mounted

The way I figure, the tuneup including the short shifter but no catch can is around $350. Rims around $1000 and the BPV is $100. That's a total of $1450 and I'll have that much by Thursday this week. Sorry for the rant, but I am unbelieveably hesitant to ever pull the trigger and spend my money. Any thoughts, offers, and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

1. I wish I was hesitant to spend my money... lol

My .02 on those wheels:

Ranked in order of my preference...

1) NEW Enkei PF01 Black 18x7.5 +xx 18.1 lbs -
2) USED 18 Enkei RPF1 Black---
3) USED 18 OZ Ultraleggera Black---
4) USED 18 Work Emotion CR KAI Black---
5) NEW Enkei Imola Black 18x8 +50 22.1 lbs -

^Honestly, those are all really nice, and I like them all. They aren't separated by much. I love those new PF01's tho...

I left the Rotas off the list on purpose... (lol2)

Rota Hate FTL...

PF01 are gorgeous, but I just don't have that kind of money. I want a high quality brand wheel that is recognizable, but let's be honest--I drive a Mazda hot hatch, not a race car or Porsche or anything exotic.

If I could afford a Porsche, you better believe it would have BBS 19" rims that cost over 4,000 dollars. But I drive a $16,000 MS3 that I can't justify spending over $1,000 on rims!

OoOOOOOooooOOo PF01's are purty tho...If I mention that to my GF, tho, I get a stare and she points at her left hand......

My top option as of now--cheap, as light as stock, with the enkei name stamped on 'em. Plus, sort of rare and unique because they were made exclusively for tirerack. Just imagine 'em all in black: (photo credit to absyal)

Do they make Kosei K1 Ti in 18"? They are RPF1 knock offs, super light (~15 lbs @ 17x8) and good looking wheel. Comes in black... Check em out. ;)

BTW, not knocking inexpensive wheels, my wheels are going to be barely over $1k with tires... Not saying you need $4k BBS, lol. I'm not opposed to rotas, I guess... I would rock some, but for their weight and sizing, I'm not a huge fan. They have a couple lighter wheels, attacks are a good wheel. & boost's & grids are solid. Replica or not, anything that looks like a TE37 is fresh! lol

I had the EKM3's for a little bit.

I love the look of the EKM3 rim--did it look funny being gunmetal on black, or is the gunmetal dark enough that you can't even tell the difference? I'm not gonna lie, they look good like that on your car!

edit: which brings up another possibility--tenzo type m in matte black...should be had for around $1000.....but when I think Tenzon I don't think 'race wheel' I think 'ricer wheel'...sorry....hmmm

James, I agree with Marlon, and I've said it before too. You get what you pay for. Of course wheels are usually the most expensive purchase for a car (unless you're going turbo or something) and they are also the biggest thing that make your car stand out. So I think wheels should really be something you really want, even if you have to save up for a bit. Dang, I think I just told Steve this last week? Haha

I think used is usually the way to go, as long as they aren't curbed, bent and beat up of course... I like your choice of wheels in this order;
-USED 18 Enkei RPF1 Black (Come on, they are the best wheel ever made, hands down. Haha! But they are my favorite and theres a reason everyone uses them, from street cars to race cars)
-USED 18 OZ Ultraleggera Black (I've always loved these wheels and had a hard on for OZ ever since I was a little kid)
-USED 18 Work Emotion CR KAI Black (these are nice too)

I like the other Enkei's but not so much the Enkei Imola's. I don't like the way the spokes stick out past the rim.

And don't worry too much about Justine getting mad at your for buying nice wheels $$$. She's a cool dame and won't dump you just because you bought wheels. Plus, the nicer your car looks the cooler she looks when she steps out of it. (wiggle)

ps- You can have the catch can, free of charge. The only catch (pardon the pun) is that you have to PM Jasen (iSpoon) and tell him thank you.

They were dark enough I dont think you could really tell. The down side about black wheels is they get dirty really quick so does the car though too.

i guess my sig could lead someone to think i'm parting out my car, but come on! I don't have that much off the car for sale.

when bleeding brakes i want to start one the passenger rear, drivers rear, passenger side front and finish with the driver's front because that's nearest to the master cylinder correct?

Sorry for the late response. At first I didn't think I knew, but I remember bleeding brakes on my Stang this way...Furthest to closest.

This might be stupid, but would OEM Mitsubishi TPMS work on my car?

I ask because I am looking at wheels off a Lancer Ralliart (aftermarket, not OEM rims-hushhush top secret) and the dude is selling them with OEM Mitsu TPMS...If they'd work, I'd gladly take 'em and use them! If not, I'll try to talk him into selling them separately (if they are worth much--the MS3 TPMS are nearly 200 bucks for a set!) and knocking down the price of these rims....
