The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

What do you have going on?

And we made it safe and sound to our meeting point of Elizabethtown KY. Didn't get here till 1, then we drive around looking for somewhere to buy some.........feminine hygiene products fir the wife! ugh! Tried to get a room at the hotel I had in mind, but they were sold out. Went to 3 other ones, and called 3 more before finding a room! Guess there's a military graduation at Ft. Knox this weekend. On Google maps, I saw there was at least a dozen hotels in this small area, so I didn't think we needed a reservation....lesson learned! haha

I'll be in my garage all day. hopefully making good progress

I was thinking of doing a sedona type red (orangish/redish)

P.S. I love grinding wheels.

I'm just trying to come up with ideas for my winter wheels. I didn't wanna copy somebody else's color scheme.

Greetings from Barber Motorsports Park in AL. I actually made it! I left the project site around 9pm and drove through the night to get here, but I made it. Mazda is doing well so far, but I won't give away specifics. It cool to see Audi and Mercedes in this now. It definitely needed a bit more variety! I hope they decide to stay and/or add more cars.

It looks like there could be a Mazda corral here.. I've seen a lot of Miatas from the AL Miata group... Maybe I could convince the ATL guys to join too..... Wishful thinking, right?

Back to the racing.. No pictures since I left my camera at home. Doh!

While driving today, I noticed my car seems to still track in a straight line (hard to tell on the city streets..) but my steering wheel is cocked to the side even more than it used to be (was a factory recall that it never got taken in for). I had everything except the tierod disconnected from the steering knuckle, so I guess it could be a number of things. This is a horrible excuse for a quick release hub.

Is this something an alignment could correct?

I don't think the alignment would straighten the wheel if it's crooked from the factory. I don't know that much about them though. Quick release hub could be straight

Josh, hope you guys get the P5 and make it home okay, buddy. I want to come over and check it out, fo sho.

Wes, after an alignment, my wheel is cocked to the left too. It was like that on my Honda and I took off the steering wheel and re-aligned it on the steering column. Not sure if that's how Mazda's work too. Just be careful with the airbag.

Oh- and great day at Mid-Ohio today! So fun to see everyone and see the cars on track. Everyone did very well, from what my untrained eyes could tell at least. You guys make me so proud. (tear, tear, sniffle). See you guys tomorrow and I'm so pumped for Hyperdrive. :)

I wish I could've been there buddy. We didn't have jack squat going on at the shop today. I don't think we made enough to cover breakfast or gas...Hopefully I can make it out to one of these events sometime.

Got it! We're just outside of Cincy now, stopped for dinner. Probably won't make it back till damn near 1am...

Skyline? or did you go all out and get Montgomery Inn Ribs?

Kinda hard to make it out...
