The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

The part where I had no brakes. The deer poo didn't have to do with brakes and more with bad luck.

I can help you out some Sunday if you do it then.

I was maybe going to try the Sunday & Monday of Labor day weekend to do the suspension stuff but I'm sure on that. Maybe just tackle both doing the front half one day, then the rear and having the brake fluid completely flushed when I do an alignment. I think the 30th of August or the 13th of September works. Both of course are buckeye miata auto-x days.

so Nick...I guess I didn't formally ask, does the 30th or 13th work for you? I know labor day weekend you'll be selling cars so I won't ask about those days.

I'll be in Nashville playing the role of 1st Groomsman for my old roommate/fraternity brother most of Labor Day weekend. I don't know when we are coming back but Monday may be a possibility. I've taken the whole weekend off so if I'm home early, I can probably come over. Maybe Megan and Amber can do something with the kids? Have to see if she's up for it. But I can let you know once we get closer.

TGIF! This week has been just terrible.

On a plus, I got to drive the RX7 to work yesterday, for the first time in probably more than 2 weeks.

there is no TGIF for me today.... ive worked over 50 hours in 4 days, and got an email last night saying you have to work the weekend to get this project out... the OT money will be awesome but im exhausted!

hope everyone else has a good weekend though!

Seems like you been doing really well lately Levi.

Right now, every weekend that I don't have to get up at 7 am on a Saturday is always a good weekend.

yeah, life is pretty good. wish i had a bit more time for traveling but it is what it is. haha

im looking forward to this winter, the msm is getting torn down and rebuilt with forged internals and im either going to rebuild the 6 speed or track down another one. I have a tuner already set up for the spring and next year the msm will be back and better than its ever been. very rough estimations on anticipated power and weight will have me in the range of Ferrari 458 and Lamborghini Gallardo power to weight so it should be quite a handful haha

That's too much to try in fit into a weekend off. You have to relax sometime. Plus I found out Amber has a "honey do" ready for me that weekend.
Anything less than a handful isn't as much fun..
depends how she overcompensates in other areas...

I was going for more of a "That's what she said".. but that works too (toilet)

Eh. I don't really get to do much on my own besides work and stuff. Can't remember the last time I actually did real work on a car. I don't even change my own oil anymore.

^hopefully dat booty
or just not being crazy. But let's face it, they're all crazy. Especially the IBTC (Itty Bitty Titty Club)

That would work, but I was just thinking about boobs.

That's on the list too. If I had a shop attached to my work I wouldn't do any of it either unless they let me use the lift & tools. I just haven't had much time and when I do I'm just kinda meh on working on cars right now.

I had my oil changed over lunch at a place, I finally realized I just wasn't going to get to it, or save much money over having the shop do it.

im paying a mechanic to replace an injector, new spark plugs and wires and a new fuel filter in the truck... Im more than capable of doing the work to the truck myself but with working my full time job so much, i just dont have time to do it (it set at my house all last week untouched, while i worked 7 straight days and 80 hours)

so i just paid someone this week. i want my truck running correctly again so that i can go camping/kayaking etc. the miata doesnt do so well for any of that LOL
ive learned that while i pride myself in doing alot of work myself, sometimes its FAR more worth it to just pay someone else to do it.

I don't know if I've hit the FAR yet, but I think I'm getting close.

i have over 100 hours at work from last Monday (8-17) to yesterday (8-25) it is worth it just to have my truck correctly running again haha... as much as i love the MSM, it is not even remotely close to a DD and only driving this the last week and a few days makes me want that quiet comfortable DD back and leave the MSM for fun. haha

It guess its a need/time/desire comparison. Too bad that is how the 6 has sat in the garage for so many years not running.

for sure! it boils down to need/time for me. im rebuilding/forging the msm motor this winter and ill do all that work myself. i will likely have 4-5 months of snow/not driveable weather, so that will be a no rush, ill do a little here and there when i have time.

I managed to do about 3/4 of the 80k maintenance on the VW. Unfortunately the only one I didn't get to was the biggest - DSG fluid drain/refill. $250 at the dealership and that doesn't include the cost of the fluid, filter, and o-ring I supplied myself. I'm definitely going to try to tackle more maintenance myself in the future to save money.

I thought I was saving money by having the dealer do the maintenance but I found out they were using s*** generic oil in my new car so I started doing my own with PP 0w-20 with a purolater filter. They were not even using Mazda oil filters at the dealer.
