The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Do you guys think that impact would be good enough for autox days. I've been thinking about getting one. Well April wants to get me one since all that is on my xmas list is car parts and I never really ask for anything.

I tried that one and returned it after a few days, it was not up to my standards as far as power or battery life.

I practiced some serious self control this weekend, kept myself from buying a new TV and a cordless impact drill... if anyone needs\wants one, sears has them on sale for $99 (the drill, not the TV although those are also on sale)

Is it just me, or does that $99 one not include the charger?

I found another one for $140 (LINK). Either I'm retarded because it's a Monday, or the Sears website doesn't clearly state what you're actually getting?

If I end up buying it, I can let you know. I plan on using it for my wheels during autox/track days. It appears to have enough juice.

Marlon, what kind of impact was it that you had for autox. Your was pretty nice.

That impact should be just find for your needs, just make sure to start the lugnuts by hand or you will cross thread the stud or nut. Another good tool you should have is a torque wrench to make sure that your lug nuts are actually tightened to proper spec. this is very important so you don't loose a wheel on course or on the way home. Marlon has a Dewalt impact I think its 18volt.

That's part of the thing that held me back, the ad at the store wasn't very clear either. It does come with a battery, and I assume a wall charger. There was one that was 3/8 instead of 1/2, had less torque but more IPMs (3500 vs 3000), that one was like $102 or $105

I think I'll stop by Sears during lunch or on my way home and make sure I get exactly what I want.

Marc's word is good enough for me.

Agreed

I just called their costumer service, which was no help. First she told me it came with a charger and no battery. Then she said that it comes with a battery and no charger and i could buy the charger for another $70. I'm going to go to the store today and check it out. I post my results if someone else hasn't already done so by the time I get back.

I was just searching for a pic in my Photobucket account and found this gem of Josh I had to share. Haha

^Looks like me when I goo to the junkyard, but ours are mud pits and have puddles the size of small ponds that usually surround the car. Oh and I'm usually covered in blood :)

I've no experience with that one, but I have a Dewalt cordless 14.4V 1/2" impact that I've owned for 4 or 5 years now, and that thing is a freaking rock-star. 2 batteries, 1 always on the charger (unless I'm taking it with me somewhere), and it just rocks. Plenty of torque for removing wheels and just about any-damn-thing else. About the only thing it hasn't broken loose were axles nuts that I needed a 4' breaker-bar to break loose... I can't really fault it for that lol. And I don't baby it. It's been dropped, the casings look like they've been through a war, but it just keeps ticking. And it's light, too.

I like Dewalt or Makita cordless tools alot better than Sear/Craftsman cordless tools but if it is a cordless impact with battery and charger its worth $99 all day long for occasional use. But if you are going to use it alot then speend the money on a Dewalt, Makita, or Milwaukee. Also it has to be 1/2" drive any other size will not work for removing lug nuts.

Not to keep trying to interject into the electric impact conversation but anyone down for a Mazda Medina Meet this week? I know Josh and I are in.

^^^ No, because I don't want to involve gifts.

How about Wednesday at 7pm again?

What restaurant?

I would be in. With my non Mazda, depending on day.

Also, the race team I was helping with had Dewalts for wheel changes, plenty of extra charged battery packs on hand.

And to whoever posted the poly exhaust hangers, THANKS!
