The Ohio Auto-X and Track Event chat thread

I'm registered for the 11th. I'm trying to get registered for the 25th but their site appears to be down for me.

Are you coming out to the Corey Invitational Phen?

Good one, Peaches. ;)

I figured I would learn in the car in FWD first, then move up to AWD.

In my defense I did pretty well (middle of the pack) at Toledo in SM running only FWD. :P

Are you coming out, Phen? - ninja'ed by Will.

Yeah, I am. Need to register soon. My play money was just potentially stolen by the Honda. One of two things come to mind.

Coil - $35
Fuel Pump - $125

Let's hope for a coil.

Oh yeah, for sure Larry. Last time I had an issue with the car was 2007. I thought the alternator went out. Turns out it was the fuse for the charging system.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you then. free fix>cheap fix>other fix LOL

I never ran novice class. I didn't know any better. Just kinda showed up, found out what to do, and ran with it. *shrugs*

I thought since this was the auto-x thread he meant auto-x. I ran novice for my first two events. After that I had a decent understanding of how everything works while driving and working the course and was just another regular joe.

If you're talking about track days, I will personally be in the novice group for another 3-4 track days (I only have a half day under my belt).

I thought he was talking about the Mid Ohio event he signed up for. I'd think you're no longer an autox rookie after 2 or 3 events, especially if you're going back for more.

You can run Novice a whole season if you want to and you care about the Novice points deal that clubs do. Otherwise, once you feel that you have the hang of it don't register as a Novice anymore. It's purely up to you.

Pablo was on the money when it comes to track stuff. There is no set time frame or number of events. Most clubs will have to check you out to the next level. I.E. you will have to prove to an instructor you know what you're doing.

I meant for autox. Oh I signed up as novice for the mid ohio track day. I just didn't know if someone would say anything with me still signing up as novice after me doing a few events

My Dad needs my help this weekend on the farm so I'm going to be skipping the autocross. Still going to try to make it to the Corey Invitational on the 25th and that will probably be the last event of any kind that I do this year. :(
