The Moderately Low (Not Slammed) and Functional Thread

I typed out a longer response but don't really feel like feeding any fuel to the "slammed vs. moderately lowered" fire. You guys can stay on your side of the playground and I'll stay on mine. That's all. Mazda love. :)

So is this thread a good place to ask about suspension geometery for my P5? Or is this only for pics? I don' really want to come accross as an attention *****.

Well the title says nothing about pix required so I don't see why not. What's you're question?

im flush now hahah although its cause i got some legit MEAT on the OZs now hahah 235-45-17 tires and not rubbing FTW!!!

how??? i don't rub on the rear but the tires do rub on the front. i am lowered on stechs and yellows.. the same as you.. what did you do to avoid the rubbing..???

didnt do anything special haha im running 17x8 +40 offset wheels and the fronts poke a lil but dont rub

i beat on it on a fun 20 mile stretch that weaves up and down 2 mountains and didnt rub once... the rears only rub slightly on a hard up or down dip and even then its only the passenger side rear that rubs..only happened twice on a 200 mile trip this weekend and both were on poor transitions from road to bridge or coming off a bridge

gonna try to make time this week (weather cooperating to try and dial that in a lil bit more)

you still on the stock wheels??

I'm replacing my Tokico Blues/Tein S-Tech set up with BC coilovers. I'm running ASA 17" +40 offset wheels with 215/40-17 Paradas. What height would be optimal for DD and the occasions track day and how much negative camber should I run, front/rear?

It depends a little on your spring rates. With a 40 offset, even with 215s you will need some camber to clear the rear fender. If it is rolled then you will probably be ok with about -0.7 degrees camber in the rear. I would suggest somewhere around -1 to -1.5 front camber. I like 0 toe front and rear for low tire wear and best gas mileage and still reasonable turn in feel. As for ride height, about 1/4 inch above the tires in the fron and whatever you need to level the floor/door sills in the rear will get you to a decent daily driver ride height that still looks good and performs well.
For track days, you can double the camber in the front and add about 1/16" total toe out front and rear.

Go ahead and ask about it here. I can tell you now that the ideal drop is 1.3" front and 1.1" rear.

I still dont know how you did it... I do rub with the 235/45.... But.. the weird thing is that the car does not rub in the rear.. only in the front.... and Yeah man I got different wheels like 2 weeks ago.. they are 17x7.5 ...........48 offset.. I think.. Not sure.. but the offset is in between 40 and 50... But It does rub on hard cornering.. and uneven roads...

Not necessarily my cup of tea, but as an overall package, looks really good.

Thanks for the reply, Bill. I was kinda hoping you and Marlon would chime in. I have the rear fenders rolled and am on -.8 degrees of camber in the back with no rubbing. I'll shoot for -1.5 of camber in the front and the ride height you suggested.

I'm looking for endlinks right now, which ones are you running on your MSP?

No problem. I'm using the AWR endlinks. No problems at all on the front.
The rear I've snapped the rod ends twice because I have the adjustable rear bar set at full stiff (past it probably) and it winds up at a really bad angle. Now that I'm going to 850 lb/in rear springs I should be able to loosen the bar up and fix that.

well i guess ill give it a go

before..
