The modding has begun

So, I just placed my order with Protege' Garage

1 x Bosal Stainless Steel Catback Exhaust - Protege5 (112213)
1 x Cast Single Runner Intake Manifold ()
Color Silver
EGR Option Add EGR Pipe
1 x OBX Stainless Steel Race Header - Protege (H2020)
1 x ProtegeGarage Stainless Steel 2.5 inch Midpipe - Protege ()
Emissions Control Add Vibrant High Flow Catalytic Converter

Going to pick up some gaskets when the parts arrive. Wish me luck(drive2)

Add to the list:
-Anti-sieze for the bolts
-Electric impact (if you don't already have access to an impact).
-Zip ties for the old VTCS and VICS solenoids - to prevent CELs from them
-Will you need a CEL eliminator (or do you keep both O2 sensors)?
-Oxy sensor socket wrench
-jack stands
-

Consider:
-Doing the rear mount with the intake off - it will never be easier...
-kartboy exhaust hangers (from other messages i have seen - no personal experience)
-Get a thernoBlok intake kit (comes with intake gaskets) to keep intake heat down
-New part or clean the EGR valve assy since it is off...

Thanks for the heads up. I got all of the tools, I have a heavily modded Subaru WRX that I have been working on for the past couple of years

I will look into the Get a thernoBlok intake kit (comes with intake gaskets) to keep intake heat down

I plan on keeping all the 02 sensors

awesome, its always great to see more victims to modding :D I also think you chose a great place to get your parts from, you cant go wrong with ProtegeGarage!

I will try and do the pics, when I get going I don't like to stop for dilly dally type of things. Plus, might be a few of use drinking beer and eating pizza at the same time and don't want greasy hands on the camera.

It wasn't too bad, I think final bill was $1,400 +/- got it all from the Protege Garage so you can see exact cost.

Still would need the exhaust work, no?

yeah and you can't really get a full turbo kit with engine management, an intercooler, and much in the way of gauges for under 2k.. and then still you're talking the msp turbo kit which isn't too great for big power.

And he would still need the midpipe, catback.

really didn't want to get the turbo and spend that kind of money on this car. This is basically my first/last/ and only attempt to get some kind of power out of this thing. If I don't get something worth while you will see it for sale in the near future.

When are you wrenching on your ride???? Still looking for a extra hand, I'd could find some time this weekend...I need to tweak my exhaust a bit anywho, so I'll be trying to get dirty with my girl this weekend...Only if the damn rain and wind and cold would let up for a day...

I am looking for some kind of power so the car does not bog down going up hills. I swear this is the worst 2.0 engine I have ever driven as far as power output.

I will keep you in mind if we end up selling it. I think it will more then likely be traded in though on a Smart Car or another Suby.

You forgot to add a UDP pully which will help you a lot in your search for mroe power. or hell just do the entire light weight pully set!

You haven't driven a VW2.0 then.. :P

You can get really decent power (in my opinion.. not blazing fast but a nice quick feel) with a header, catted midpipe, catback, underdrive pulley, mp3 ECU, cold air intake, VTCS removal, etc.
