The Mazda3 Horn

Has anyone replaced their horn with a more manly sound? How are the Super Hella tone horns also, if anyone has them?

AllyMazda3 currently has hellatones on her car. I think she has a sound clip of them but I'm not sure where it is. Maybe she will chime in here sometime and post it. :)

Get a Stebel airhorn 139db, wake the dead horn and never look back, would consider putting two on to get above the cellphone dead (headbang)

Stebels at Griots Garage same basic price anywhere ya look. I have the red model, might get a "big truck" model to go with it (headbang)

I've got hella horns on my 3. They are very different sounding horns that seem to grab everynes attention when I honk...plus, very loud! Look up on youtube for some clips of what they sound like. I like mine a lot

Many many people have either replaced or augmented the existing high tone horn. I have Fiamm Freeway blaster dual tones which sound great.... maybe not as loud as the Supertones but they seem a little... electronic sounding. They're also much cheaper. Other people have installed just the Freeway Blaster low tone with the stock high tone and that also makes the car sound like a real car vs. a little clown car.

Does anyone know if installing an aftermarket horn like the hellas will void the warranty. I was told installing HIDs would void any warranty on electronics.

lol santos i just saw this thread and was looking for the youtube vid.

depends on the dealer. they're not supposed to deny warranty coverage for things that aren't affected by a modification. as long as you install the horn properly you wont have any issues.

Thanks Ally. My dealership told me not to do the HIDs, so that eliminated that idea. Now I would like to install the Hellas and I guess I have to call the dealership and make sure it is alright. I don't see why it would be a problem, but it will need some new wiring so I guess it could affect the electronics some how.

you just tap into the existing horn wire. its not as intensive as installing HIDS.

if you're really concerned, tell them you want to install a dual tone horn for safety reasons because you've "suffered some near misses and the stock horn wasn't loud enough to alert the other driver"

they'll probably tell you its not a concern to upgrade the horn.

of all the mods you might consider doing, upgrading your horn would be the least of my concern for warranty reasons. hellas come with a relay that the wires all connect to, which controls how the power goes between the battery, alternator and the horn. its designed to protect the electrical system.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act "they" can't deny warranty work based on any changes you do unless "they" can show changing the horn was directly responsible for the tranny blowing up or the engine or the sunroof quits or...but you never know.

I plan on changing the horn on ours also. It's kinda wimpy I'm thinking.

ally how do you find time to wrench on your 3 when you are so busy rocking out??
