the handling of the p5

hell i had to have my car towed and when we were taking it off the tow truck and pushing it into a space at my buddies shop the driver said," damn thing turns like a drag car!" so yea the low speed turns suck but when your at speed almost nothing can touch a mp5 with lightly modded suspension

i do agree on the large turning radius. where as most of my friends can turn around in subdivisions, i have to make three point turns to do the same thing they just did in a few seconds.

as far as handling in general...

i was thoroughly impressed with the handling abilities of the p5 right out of the box. i was definitely loving it, but wanted more. after my coilover install, i couldn't be happier. sure, i'll probably do a little bit more tweeking, such as the gt.spec front strut bar and rear sway bar, but thats about it.

Jesus you people complain about turning radius toom much. Try driving a Yukon or a Sierra or an excursion and you'll be screaming and running to get back to the tightness of the protege.
I could be a wrong about this, but wouldnt a ful roll cage welded to the frame do a lot of good for handling?

after driving an accord that has a super low turning radius, i'm going to complain about the p5's.

but then again...how often does anyone really need to turn that sharp?

i agree. the radius doesn't seem all that bad/big. i've turned a full circle in very tight areas. maybe you guys haven't figured out you need to actually turn the wheel to turn the car around. (sun) (yes)

The P5 is a gret hangling car straight out of the box. If I remember correctly, it actually pulled a .87 on the skidpad, which puts it up with high-end touring sedans (BMW).

To improve the handling, here's a simple recipie: Get an Eiback prokit and Tokico shocks, new tires (and possibly rims), and if you still have money, get yourself a new rear swar bar. You now have a wonderful little machine that is still perfectly drivable on the street.

OK guys, I just bought some 17 x 7's for the P5. Gonna probably wrap 'em with Kuhmo Ecsta MX's (215/40/17 per Fishie's fitment recipe). I'm gonna get the Tokico/Eibach combo.
I found these on Ebay. Tokico HP's

and

Eibach Springs

Ya'll know of any place I can get 'em cheaper?

Thanks,
Van

What is the difference between the tokico HP and the Illumina? And are they any after market springs that keep the stock ride height or maybe lower it like less than an inch, cause I already scrape sometimes, so I'm nervous about lowering springs.

The illuminas have adjustable bound, 5 position. The HPs are non adjustable. Racing Beat springs have the least amount of drop , 3/4", they are the stock MP3 springs. I have them on mine and they work great, I actually have less scraping now than with the stock springs.
