Its the gear selector mechanism. You can adjust the throw lengths by installing a short shift kit which either ddm or corksport sell.

Unrelated, but do you have problems with the 1-2 shift catching when turning? Every so often when I'm making a turn after accelerating(still around 4k) I end up grinding and 2nd gear just won't go in until I baby it. I'm just trying to find out if it's the CS plate that's changing the amount of force transferred through the cables, or if my synchros are already messed up and I need to take it in for warranty repair.

Not noticed it happening when i corner, the selecting 1st sometimes takes a few attempts....

Shaun....

I had the same problem until I installed a solid rear motor mount. No more missed shifts.

Already have the mount, still have the issue although it's MUCH less prominent than it used to be. Might try one of them fancy torque dampers them ricer kids use.

It's worth trying Corksport's shift plate, too. I always through my throw was short enough until I drove Tom's car. The shifts were not only shorter, but felt much more "positive," too.

Already stated the CS plate is installed, which is why I asked Cosh if he was having problems with it installed.
