The Future of the Speed3

I know they aren't making these past this year, but has anyone heard if they will be bringing them back, or if they will re-introduce a new one? Seems odd they only are doing two years of them, when they appear to be quite popular and a great car.

I don't mind. I like the fact that they are a limited edition car. Hopefully, if for some crazy reason I end up selling this down the road, the rarity will help uphold the value more so than on other cars.

If they can make money, they will keep bringing them out. And with them being so popular and them getting close to or above MSRP, it seems to make no sense that they aren't coming out with 09's. Hopefully they are doing a new version for '10.

They already have a speed sedan in the MS6, I think a sedan MS3 is about as likely as an AWD MS3. As for how long production will go on, well they usually kill a model right after introducing a 200X<b>.5</b> version of a given model

yeah but the regular 3 look so much better than the 6 =p

Imagine a AWD ms3 hatch, or RWD 3 sedan I would sell my speed3 in a flash =p

Isn't mazda coming out with a redesigned 3 for 2009? I haven't heard anything but maybe they aren't now that mazda just updated the interior bits of the 3. It seems to be a very well kept secret. I doubt Mazda will go a year without a speed model though...I'm guessing they will be putting out a brand new MSM with the DISI for 2009, but again, I have not heard anything. Damn you Mazda! I guess they want to be able to sell the remaining speed3 before they introduce the next speed model. If they come out with a new MSM that would be one hell of a car...probably almost lotus like considering the light weight and high horsepower...

there is a small chance they could pull a BMW... the last gen M3 was selling so well that they continued to sell the old M3 for the first year of the next gen three series coupe/sedan.

The speed 3 will come and go just like the other MazdaSpeed vehicles they have introduce since 2003. I'm curious to what will be the next MS.

Sad to say, I think the naysayers are right. There won't be any AWD MS3, and the next MS vehicle will be the Miata with a turbo DISI, maybe the 2.0 instead of the 2.3. Instead, I'd love to see them bring the 2 over with the turbo DISI 2.0 and AWD. That would be the ultimate pocket rocket in my book. Who knows, with the success of the Mini, the mini Hondas/Toyotas/Nissans and gas prices going through the roof, it could happen.
