The E-Blue Project

u know come to think of it your right ive never heard the rx-8's having trouble with the greddy or roadsters, but thats the only the ones i havent heard alot of complaints, i really hear it comming from the 3 and 6, i guess its because its a 1st gen OBDII motor while the rx-8 and miatas have had time to progress... i dunno.

UPDATE!

As promised i got the emanage installed last night(late), i had to find the correct internal POT settings from a mazda car that worked fine. After going thru the setup menus the car was running off the piggyback as if it were stock, no driving issue . I took it out for a spin, romped on it a couple times and everything was okay! I had the laptop connected the entire time looking at rpm, injector duty cycle an a couple other things being displayed in real time.

Install took roughly two hours, i only had to cut the MAF signal wire everything else was tapped into and soldered.

All the wires: Power, ground, airflow in and out (spliced the maf signal wire) rpm, tps, and all four injector wires, an additional injector wire resuse for emanage boost control and one last ground wire.

So far the emanage can do VTA for maf cars (has the option in a menu), 256 point adjustment for managing fuel, built in map clamp, boost control with any 2-step solenoid with the additional injector wire( still in progress) and timing control which i wont be using. You can monitor knock, boost, AFR with the factory O2, injector duty cycle, timing and a few other things i've seen.

Im waiting to see if i can get my hands on an cheap profec e-01 by this thursday, give me another week or so after thursday to finalize a full write up which will include: internal emanage settings, full install instructions, part numbers and a how to if you want it to control boost, how to make your own support tool cable, support tool download location, home made 3 bar map sensor, and if i can make it to they dyno a base map.

My car is 100% stock minus the Injen CAI, my only stipulation IS if people start using this application, you share your maps and mods with the entire community...it will make it easier for everyone, and for busting my balls thats the only thing i ask is sharing. I dont know about the rest of you but with a 256-point fuel adjustment map im looking forward to better gas mileage, street tune + WOT after 4k rpms. I'll post up some pics probably mid week, im currently down in fort lauderdale and dont have a digital cam.

Stay tuned for next update!

good man, im glad I wasnt the first to play with something different than people are doing. im still waiting to put the safc neo in. now that i have the cdfp ill pick one up and do it.

Can't wait to see the E-manage and Apexi NEO installed on these cars.

Just a concern. I was thinking about making a harness (like an extension) between the ECU and the actual harness, this way you never tap into the cars wires, because you tap into this homemade extension harness. What you gain is, if you bring the car to the dealer for warrantee issues, you can just unplug the whole setup and not end up with the dealer seeing spliced wires near the ECU.

I would need to cut some parts out of a regular 3 at a salvage yard. Does anyone know if the ecu connectors are the same on the 3 and the speed3?

Something to the effect of this.

Edit: If anyone knows where I can pic up the connectors please let me know.

im pretty sure they arent. And I'm pretty sure mazdamade it pretty hard to get ahold of other connectors(this is why cpe had so much trouble, I think they ended up making their own) and they still arent done.

personally dont get the neo, get the older super afcII. Ive tuned that one on a friendS srt and the neo recently on friend swapped civic, the older one had more adjustment points for fuel than the neo does but the neo has ALOT more features. fyi

greddy also

We are thinking e-manage after dp/ rp/ back and ets topmount [soon], springtime tuning. looking forward to your results.will you run larger injectors? good luck !

either way i hope this guy has luck with his project because from what ive heard ANY of the newer mazdas really seem to hate Greddy's e-manage system, and have ended up going with Haltech, Unichip, Microtech etc.

anything specific? ive heard mazdas tune in 0-5volts has created some difficulty. any info would be helpful!

Cut them from a wrecked 3, or are they differant?

that's what I was saying. I'm pretty sure they arent the same. Sorry for not clarifying.
You would need to cut them from a speed3, then youd have to either find a way to cut out the other side of the harness from the speed3 ecu, if thats even possible. If its not, you'd have to find a way to make your own

Hmmm, this makes me want to try out an e-manage ultimate. Did you say you worked in a 3 bar map sensor? How is that working out when cruizing?

I will start to look for an adapters and connectors, as I won't cut the factory harness.
Time to head down to the Mazda service department.

i was only using the 3bar map sensor just so the emanage can see boost, if i can see boost then i can use my homemade EBC. everything is sitting basically just plugged in right now, im waiting to see when im getting this profec e-01

I got an E-01 in the 6. By itself, it manages boost very well. I can make the boost curve look however I want, at least now that I'm used to the settings. Don't know about the 3, but the screen fits perfectly in the center consol lid on the 6, and with the cable access' I put the controller in the lower part of the consol as well as the computer. Very clean install and out of the way.

MZ HW_1 pot setting. Its mazda maf universal, not vehicle specific. searh for the emanage faq or search the yahoo group. hope that helps some.

Im not doing timing control because i dont kno the correct jumper setting for this car's voltage range + i refuse to cut any of the ecu wires besides the maf.
