You read corect..... he is dead. With all his madness that he does, a sting ray kills him. A freak accident. The sting ray's barb penetraded his chest. Here's the article:

Even though he was pretty crazy that sucks. I would rather he had bit the bullet with a crocodile or a snake. But a sting ray! Damn!

I had no idea sting ray could kill people like that. Especially the crocodile hunter. That sucks. I watched his show on saturday mornings on NBC. I wonder what they will do with that show now.

Yup, and this just happened today. In austrailia I'm not sure how far ahead time wise they are ahead of us but the article says Sept. 04. Best wishes to his family.....

holy s***, i didint think he would ever die, he was like the guy who took all these "huge risks" for the camera but always had some sort of protection plan waiting to be used. All i can say is wow....end of an era....will be missed....
