The chinacharger thread

Well got the center section back on friday. Surprisingly enough the turbo was within spec as far as balancing. They spent some time with it though and took down even more and got it to where its near perfect balance now.

I also took the turbo yesterday and test fitted it on my msp mani with the outlet clocked down. Everything fits as it should! Even my stock oil return line bolts right up!! I thought i was going to have to make some new jdm oil return because most knockoff turbos come with t3 oil return flanges. And if the compressor wheel was going to explode you would hear it scraping against the housing long before it does.

BTW thanks for all the support =). i was expecting to have to put on my flame suit haha.

I don't think anyone is against a cheaper alternative to replacing the Garrett. I certainly appreciate your research.

My question is will the center section fit into original Garrett end housings or do they sell just the cartridge.

I still kinda think its possible for a blade to snap on the chra without you hearing and realizing. I think it would be too late at that point lol im not hating just sayin

it's possible for anything to happen. I don't see how a blade is going to snap off unless its scraping against the compressor housing. Bottom line is the turbo is balanced it and it has no shaft play. I'm not worried about a compressor wheel imploding. The only thing that im thinking could possibly go wrong is that the oil seal could blow, but thats it

that i don't know i'd need to have a 2871 to take apart.

i don't see the blade getting past the intercooler.. unless it shatters to tiny ass lil pieces

Broken blades result in imbalance, imbalance causes extreme wear on bearings, bearing filings go into the oil, lubricating oil is contaminated and thus possible engine failure from a bad turbo. I do this for a living. But your right. Theres almost no possible way that blade fragments could make it past the cooler. Oil leakin from a failing turbo can wreck your engine though.

running ebay turbo since 2008, now its been more than 75000km on it, still runnnig like new, No shaftplay.

The turbo i got is a cxracing one, got it less than 200$. Swaped out the original exhaust seal with 25$ stagger gap seal, that way it would never smoke.
