The best exhaust

This question has been throwed round and round again and I still don't know. Which is the best p5 exhaust system for your buck, sound, looks, and hp gains? Racing Beat, Bosal, or SR Motorsports.

Just like its been said when it was thrown around and around before and before..

its pretty much personal preference.....NO ONE has ever shown up here with REAL before and after dyno results of only adding one of these exhausts....so as far as REAL Hp gains.....your guess is as good as yours...

Sound? well I can tell you the bosal is killer...I love it. its not TOO loud....its a nice deep throaty sound......

Looks....well there again I like the Bosal....the entire system is polished, the quality of the parts is very good...and the tip doesn't look like a 3 pound coffee can sticking out the back of the car!

so there ya go.....MORE personal opinion.

If you want something that looks good, you can forget about the SR Motorsports exhaust. That thing looks like they had Midas do the fabrication. ARD P5 has the Racing Beat cat-back on his P5, it looks very nice and is very quiet. I'm not sure what HP gains the Racing Beat unit give though.

the skunk2 exhuast will be available mid-june at a retail price of 599 and its stainless from cat back and has n-1 style canistor...
also i contacted thermal r@d and theirs will be available end of july also stainless for around 499........

I had thermals 3" turbo exhuast on my integra and it was nice..
the skunk also looks nice from their pics .......

I was hoping maybe APEXi would make something for our cars but dosent look like they will or maybe BLITZ but who knows maybe they will..........

Hey SirNuke

I am interested in the Bosal Exhaust. I like the fact it sounds good and doesn't look like a folger's can on a piece of pipe. Do you have any pics and info on where to buy?

I highly doubt APEX Integration will biuld an exhaust for the Protege. There just isn't enough market for it yet. Hell, I was suprised to see them make something for the Focus.

Hey SirNuke. Thanks for the pic. How far does the exhaust stick out from the rear bumper or is it flush with the bumper? One more question and I will leave you alone. You said it has a deep throaty sound. How is that at highway speed and long road trips? Annoying or does it mellow out some when driving at steady RPM's? Thanks for the input

its pretty well flush with the bumper...it does NOT stick out...if you WANTED IT TO...there are different tips you can get...as you can see in the picture the Bosal exhaust tips for the P-5 and MP3 BOLT on....thus making switching tips a breaze! you can see that the tip for the P-5 is quite short...while the one for the MP3 is about 4 to 5 inches long....if you wanted it to stick out you could just get the other tip and swap them out...or go to the bosal site and see all the other tips they have available. they may not all fit OUR car due to the opening in the bumper...but they do have others.

as far as the sound....it really does depend on how you play your music! lol ahhh....the exhaust gets louder as you get on the accelerator as you might guess.....when I cruise at a steady 70 or below the exhaust is only slightly noticable...and doesn't bother me at all....once you start cruising at faster speeds you will start to hear it more and more......but at NORMAL/LEGAL highway speeds its just fine.

Thanks SirNuke

The info is appreciated. I checked out Protege5Online.com. That price is awesome considering other exhaust systems are within a breath of $500. I don't think I would opt for the tip. Flush with the bumper is what I was looking for.

Sir Nuke,

Is there a diffence in power (you can feel) with the Injen and the Bosal combination.
Do you think is a good combination?

Sir Nuke, you say it's "throaty". Is that opposed to "bumblebee"? Do extra tips change the sound to taste?

Okay...going to answer you questions all in order...

1st. Korey Chaos it took me ALONE (so yes one person and a car lift can do this easy enough) about an hour and a half. TIP...where the hangers are for the muffler, squirt some WD-40 or something like it on the rubber hangers...it makes it SOOO MUCH easier....otherwise you will fight with them for a long time.

2nd CharlieP5, YES I think the two are a nice combination....my BUTT dyno can feel the difference....for starters the throttle response is much improved...and if you are able to get more air/fuel in...you got to get it out or you are doing no good. The bosal does a nice job.

3rd Syzygy, NO the system does NOT sound like a can full of pissed off bumble bees...I HATE THAT SOUND!!! it actually remindes me of the sound/tone of an older MG or Jag. NO the tips do not change the sound...just the look....personally I like the one that comes on the P-5 system....it fits the bumper cutout so well you would think it was factory.

For all of you.....as far as the TRUE performance gains you get with these to Mods...I can't say...I didn't dyno my car before installing the....nor did I after....however....it has improved the way the car responds, the way it sounds...and the way it looks.

the Bosal is polished stainless steel from front to back....it looks and sounds great.

the Injen is very nice looking as well....so if you are the type to either show your car...or go to the local hangouts and lift the hood to shoot the poop with your buddies....if nothing eles...its the nicest looking intake on the market.
