Had tons of cars as projects, but drivers:
86 Trans Am 5.slow engine
95 T/A convertible - my baby
95 T/A hardtop - 10 sec stock-look sleeper
94 Miata - loved it
97 Explorer 5.slow (different brand, same suck)
02 Tahoe (lift, tires, etc etc)
02 Corvette, Electron blue convertible - the other baby
current:
-02 Suburban 8.1/4L80E puller
-00 Outback to go where I dare not take the MS6
-06 MS6 just bought, should be fun

04 Cooper S : twincharged, full bolt ons
98 Z28 Camaro : engine only ~550hp, low 11's before owner put it into gaurdrail
94/91 Miatas : junkyarders brought back to life... paint/tops/etc

1999 Mercury Cougar V6 - first MTX, bought brand new, first car I bought myself. I miss that car.
Sold it in 07 with 120K miles on it. It was Rio Red, the paint color they used for the Office Space stapler. 
2004 Mazda6s (mtx) - made in the same plant as the Cougar. Good riddance to that piece of crap (bought used and it had issues).
2006 Mazdaspeed6 - Velocity Red Mica. Zoom-Zoom.

1976 Chevy Camaro - first car, totally rusted out when I got it, drove it for five years and did lots of work on it, eventually the torque converter started to give out so I sold it.
1985 Toyota Celica GTS - This had a special independent rear suspension, other stuff, kind of a 4 cylinder Supra. Lots of fun, drove it all through college and grad school. Head gasket blew and totaled engine.
1996 Mazda MX-6 LS - Just kept going, even though the exterior was all messed up (dents, paint). Probably could have run it another four years, but I got attracted to...
2007 Mazdaspeed 6 GT - Just bought two weeks ago, having a lot of fun getting used to it. It's really a sweet car.....

You skipped the 2nd Gen... That's my favorite...
1st Gen was raw...that's why I liked it.
2nd Gen..famous for addition of ATX. Sure, it helped sales but diluted the vehicle.
3rd Gen, def more of a luxury sport sedan. I know, it is hard to qualify Taurus as Luxury but it was a very good, solid car, with all the amenities. Though low on torque, the little 3.4 V8 really pulled strongly up to 7k redline and with exhaust, sounded like nothing else.

What cars have you owned?
Just curious as to what cars all of you have owned. My list is as follows. The saturn was the first car. I bought and sold from the saturn to this mazdaspeed.

I loved the JDM scene. once i get situated with this mazda, i want to get an ek hatch as a prject. My dream is to get a 86-88 bmw 325i as a project and make it look SICK.
All of these cars were built from garbage to legit. All were bought from an auto auction with a rebuilt title...I LOVE projects
