That wonderful sound....

Okay, so I like the "pissed off bumblebee" sound. I can't remember who put it that way, but I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. So how would I go about getting that? New exhaust system altogether or different muffler, or just different pipe? Which brands do you think is the best? Thanks!

i believe a different muffler could do the trick, but for a more improved "pissed off bumblebee" a new performance catback set would do wonders, also in yer dyno :D

im still waiting on a catback for our cars, because i dont want to go the way of the custom job...

Be careful though, some mufflers and exhaust will not give you that great sound, but give you a bad, low tone, quiet sound. I would go with Apexi N1. A few of my friends have the N1 cat back on some Civics and Integras, I have one on my Integra and it sounds awesome. I ordered just the N1 muffler for my MP3, hoping that and my custon exhaust will give it the same sound. I will try and get a sound clip when I get it on.

Attention all MP3 owners in the WORLD. No exhaust on the market is going to give you the power you want. Reason for this is the exhaust manifold on our car sucks. Look you have the exhaust manifold then theres a catalytic converter right on it, then theres a little muffler pipe about 1.5 inches which leads to another catalytic converter. On my cousin's civic si, when he put a hi flow cat he gained about 4-5 hp to the wheels, when he put his dc sports 4-1 race header he gained another 3-4 hp to the wheels. So what does that say that we have about 10hp tp the wheels stuck in our exhause manifold. If you change the exhaust manifold with a good header and a hi flow cat, the factory exhuast system would sound awesome. Just my .02 cents on the topic. If you need real info on how to extract power send me an email. My plan is to have 200hp to the wheels with either NOS or turbo and bolt on with fuel upgrade. Later

The APEXi N1 is loud and ubnoxiuos, but hey if you like the way it sounds, more power to ya. I preffer the more mellow, deep, don't Fu** with me, I've got torque sound. :) We just installed the HKS Titanium Tip 3inch exhaust on Subywan's WRX and damn the boxer motor sounds beautiful. And for the size of the muffler, you'd think it would be louder than the N1. Since it's a boxer motor, it makes less noise and more bass. ;) I wish I knew where to upload an MPEG to share with you all

how much was the bosal, and where did you get it????????
I want it now, now now now!!!!!!!!

Example: Those set of 3 black civics in the fast and the furious.
That is what I want my car to sound like. What did they have? Anyone know?

u mean those 3 GREEN civics that high jacked trucks on the highway in TFATF ? Those 3 civics are turboed... U can hear their BOVs... if thats the sound ur talking about... or are you talking about the high pitched whiney noise that the cars make? those are actually the sounds of the turbo spooling up...

Again, These pics are from another car(Not Mine). But you can get this exaust from

Protege5Online, They are $385.00 Shipped if I remember correctly.

sorry, I thought that they were black with green neon underneath.. ANYWAY.. the little buzzing sound.. what kinda exhaust did they have?

The Bosal you speak of is for the ES. You can tell that becuase it doesn't sit right in the bumper of the Protege 5 it is on. You will have to have the same little section from the pipe to the muffler bent so it sits right in the bumper. A pipe shop can that, use the stock muffler section as a template, just make sure you get the same sized tubing put on.

And, any exhaust for the 2.0 liter ES or LX will "fit" the MP3, with the same minor modifications from the pipe to the muffler.

The Protege 5 exhaust should not fit because it isn't long enough. The Protege 5 is about 3 inches shorter in the rear than the Protege sedan. Just something to think about.

When you order the exaust, you tell them that you want the one for your sedan if you have a sedan. There are Two cat-back systems from Bosal. I just got these pics of the p5 exaust because that was all I could find. :D

Im with apexistud on this one. I like the deep mellow sound. For some reason whenever i hear the bumblebee sound i always think of some kind of ricey corolla or somethin.

From what I have heard from the people that have the Bosal's on thier cars, they say that it is a very nice sound. Not like a whiny, high pitched honda. More like a mellowed out lower tone.

hey, i came up w/ the pissed off bumblebee sound and if you want it just cut your cats and buy an aftermarket muff, oh and dont forget the absurdly big tip. if you really wanna hear the sound go to a circle track, preferably a dirt track, and listen to the mini stock classes go. it sounds like a sworm of pissed off bees.

just so you guys know that high pitched buzzing sound that honda has can not be mimicked on our cars. that sound comes from the vtec and the way it works. i think our cars will have that low tone to it. I used to have a 2001 Golf TDI and i put a cone filter and a straight pipe on it and it sounded awesome. but thats my 2 cents. i was actually thinking of buying an N1 muffler and getting a 2.25 inch pipe made for me. i think that exhaust would look awesome on our cars. but im probably not going to do that for a while. i can handle the toned down sound we have on our cars for now. im planning on getting a cam and pistons and exhaust at the same time.
