Thanks to mazda for seat belts and airbags!!!!! UPDATED WITH PICTURES

So I was in a bad accident, I was going westboud on jerico turn pike diong about 60-70 miles an hour. A lady on the right lane who was stoped ends up pulling a u turn. She doesnt look for on coming traffic.I end up hitting the breaks and locking them up. She fianlly see's me and tries to get out of the way but it was too late. My left front driver's side hits her directly in the back wheel/trunk area. I go spining about 2 times and she is about 200 feet away from me. After the cars are stopped I try getting out of the drivers side door but it was not opening. I climb threw the passenger side door and I am able to get out. I immediatly call 911 tell them them where the accident is. Then call my mom and tell her what happened, then I called my work and told them I wouldnt be able to make it in. If it wasnt for the seat belt or airbags I wouldnt be here typing this. Tommorw I will have pics up of the carnage, yes I know this thread is worthless with out pics. Im just happy Im okay.

Glad your ok man. I had something similar happen to me on the freeway. My car hydroplaned and i hit a slow moving car in front of me. I spun out and rebounded against the center divider spinning back to the far right lanes. I was ok with only some brusing and cuts from shattered glass but i was alive. This all happened on Thanksgiving by the way.

It is a big rode, 4 lanes. I will admit I was going over the speed limit. But even if I was doing the limit I would of still not of been able to make it. Thanks everyone for you concerns.

Yeh on long island, nassau county.

I just got back from the auto body. I got more pics of the car. Im just gonnna have them keep it there until the insurance is done with it so then they can just dispose of it.

Did they already tell you they were going to declare it totaled? We have not seen under the hood yet but that would be my guess from the pictures, what with both airbags blown, the frame bent, and the left front wheel shoved back.

As a side note, in the first picture there is a wrinkle in the metal above the driver's door and just below the first cross bar on the roof rack. Did that go all the way across the roof? It's the only sign of failure that I could see in the "cage" part of the car's structure. The jammed driver's side door doesn't count as a cage failure in my book since it looks like the left front tire was shoved back into the door, and even with being squished like that the door did not pop open.
