Testing new NO CEL method on catless cars

Later this week, im gonna be testing out a new way to prevent a CEL when you have a catless exhaust. Its a trick alot of WRX guys are using, and its how i think the shop that made gcotton's exhaust got around the CEL.
The good thing is, theres no wiring or anything, and it just screws on to the existing o2 sensor and bung, and the parts are available at autozone.
I'll have a parts list and simple how to up in the next few days...

Sounds good! I don't have to worry about this but a lot of people do...if this is a cheaper way to do it, then it's even better.

Just got off the phone with my friend who just did it.
Its a simple modification of a part called a spark plug arrester, and it just extends the o2 sensor out away from the original bung on the downpipe.
His CEL came on within 20 miles after his new exhaust, and after doing this mod and clearing it, hes driven 100+ with no CEL.
I'm going to autozone right now to pick these up, and will post some pics.
Results later in the week!

too bad i didn't heard about this before i wired a MIL eliminator into my O2 sensor wiring. but then again, the MIL eliminator was free so no worries for me. good to know though :D

i just went and got the HELP! Spark plug non fouler. Part 42002 for 3.99 from autozone.
Its a 2 pack, that you screw together, and then screw the open end into the o2, and the other into the bung.
I'm going to be getting this done tomorrow.
This does require that you drill out the hole to allow for more flow to the o2, but thats pretty easy.

heres a pic of what i bought.

Boo its on page 8.. no wonder i didnt find it. Maybe this will help get the word out better.

Weather sucks today, dont feel like driving over to the shop today....
But yes, this will eliminate the CEL from coming on if you are catless.

I had the people who made my exhaust do it, but i just bought the spark plug non foulers, and he drilled them out with a 1/2 in bit, screwed them together, then onto the bung, then screwed the o2 sensor onto it.

:)

question, if my O2 sensor is already "potentially" non functional. (per obdII decoder - O2 sensor no activity) will this still work? or do i have to replace my O2 sensor first?

what do you think?

if your sensor is faulty then theres nothing you can do, get a new sensor
