test pipe

save the $39.05 and get the corksport :)

FWIW, here's a couple of people who had above-mentioned fitment issues with the stock/Mazdaspeed CBE (delete the asterisks to follow the link):

One said he was sent 60mm long bolts that were too long and bottomed out. Easily fixed with shorter bolts. Two said that they could not get a good seal on the donut and had to use some kind of sealant.

Maybe if you look hard enough you can find people with the same issues with the SU. I didn't, so I spent the extra $40.

The CS fits poorly where it connects to the stock catback. I've heard it fits well with the aftermarket 3" catbacks. If you have aftermarket catback or are getting a catback soon then CS will be fine. I've read of no fitment issues with the SU pipe.

So if I have a stock CBE and DP then my best bet is to go with the Su Test pipe? Does the CS just have too long of bolts? I imagine I could pick up some shorter bolts at a hardware store for under $39.05......

i've never had a problem personally installing the corksport test pipe to any system here

I'm getting the mazdaspeed cat back in the next couple of weeks and am planning on doing a test pipe along with it,,

which one has the best fit with the ms cbe?
also, is it hard to swap them in and out for warranty purposes?
thanks

the swap is pretty easy to do. i have installed a corksport test pipe with that catback and it fits good.

Doubtful. Cat back would not throw a code...and the catless test pipe I put on (Corksport) didn't either. No code still, even with the catless downpipe and midpipe (both Corksport)

I received the SU test pipe yesterday and installed it last night. Install went fast due to already doing this mod before. I had the CS for a week before removing it and selling it to a member with a 3"cat back. I could not get it to seal good were it connected to the stock Cat back. I found that the SU pipe fit perfectly to my stock exhaust. I have read that the CS pipe fits perfectly with the 3"cat backs, also the CS pipe is prettier.

I've got a SU test pipe on my stock CBE. Could I put a Corcksport DP 3" with the test pipe? Is it a 3" or 2.5"????

regardless of throwing a CEL, by putting in a testpipe arent you replacing what is called the "cleanup cat" in which if you tried to get a smog test where they put the meter into the back fo teh exthaust pipe it will at that poitn register thare is no secons cat as its measuring from behind where the testpipe/second cat would be?

if you're running a test pipe and only a test pipe, just remove it before your smog test. and seeing as how the ms3 has been in production for only 3 years now, most people wont even have to worry about smog for another 2 years. so unless you're getting a full turbo-back, don't worry too much about the smog test, when the time comes, you can just unbolt the pipe and slap the stock cat back on :D
