It was my third time at the track, on street tires, with just a MS CAI and a SU MM.

Everyone I know says that wasnt that bad, but I dont like to settle for just mediocre.\\

Any help?

That's not a bad time. You didn't spin much if at all but you seemed to start off at a low rpm. I think if you increase the launch rpms (while keeping wheelspin down) you'll probably hit 14 flat or even high 13s.

+1

i think ur doing fine, jsut need to shift faster it seems like. ur 60ft is good for 14.0 even high 13's. ur trap didnt break 100 so maybe ur shifting too slow 2-5

What's your tire pressure front and rear? What was the weather like, etc. Drop the front tire pressure a bit and bump the rear up. Make sure you ahve some way of inflating your fronts when you're done though.

Keep going back to practice. That's the only way you'll get better.

All asst. off.
Tires at 33 F 40 R

Yes, I think ill be shifting better next time. (Should have SS by then)

recommended for front is 34 when driving normally, you might want to go less than 30. Your reaction time can be better. at 0.4xx...get it down to 0.2 or 0.3xx. Dont look at the other car, just do your own thing. You can be faster or slower than him but at the end you're racing against yourself.

Dont lower your stock tires pressures it hurts you - speaking from experience.

Race against a friend or someone you WANT to beat.. Seriously.. Both of my best times were when a buddy of mine and I lined up at the strip LOL

just a fluke for you i guess. the stock tires need to be dropped to 20-25psi for the best traction out of the hole ! by droppingthe pressure you give the sidewall more room to flex....just like a slick, only not as good. the stock tires are like hockey pucks when cold and even worse if you keep them above 30psi.

as for the time.... not too bad. you got an easy 2 tenths you can drop off just in the 60ft.
you can see in the vid that you 1-2 shift was kinda slow too. the whoel car lifts up and then squats back down. that weight tranfer going back and forth costs some time too. pratice and you'll get better. thats what its all about !

RT is not going to make the car any faster. I agree that it is embarrassing to not go right away at the green light, but the timer doesn't start until you begin to move.

The hardest part of drag racing is of course launching, so focus on getting your 60ft times down. Dedicated racing tires/wheels will help a LOT.

QFT. You can sit there and let the guy next you make his run , then go. It's not going to affect your time.....

Someone suggested checking your shifting 2-5. I second that, pay attention to your RPMs, keep it consistant to get a good idea of your base before changing your shift points. Launches are also a good place to pick up some time, work on your 60'.
Ron Tonkin rep trapped at 103/104 on a 14.2, IIRC, and horrible launches. He has MBC also.

Keep practicing and have some fun.

is that so? well, that's something i didnt know. good to know that. thanks.

Also if you're not gonna burn out, avoid the spot where they put water for people who wants to do burn out before the run. That way your tires are not wet.
