Need help. I want to put Tein springs on my 2008 3 S Hatch. Do I have to change the stock struts to put on these springs?

you may not have to do it right a way but eventually yes. The stock shocks were not designed to operate on springs that low. Why teins? there are many other options including stock MS3 springs.

you should be safer if you go with the speed springs. plus they are cheaper. Search the mazda3 section for springs. And you will find a lot of people that have asked the questions and pioneered the road for you.

plz be aware.. speed 3 springs on mazda 3 will actually raise your front by about 1/4-1/2".. since speed 3 is heavier in the front, springs are stiffer. They do increase performance, just dont look as good.
if you want to go with tein springs, I personally have s techs on my car, shocks/struts are holding up for a while now, without major problems. They are too soft for me so i went ahead and ordered BC coilovers.
And no, you dont have to change your shocks/struts but u can.

i had the s-tech on my 04 hatch for 3 years with no problems at all with stock everything else, you should be ok, but be aware you will be low!!!! had to take my 18x8's
off, i ran with 17" and was ok

so did you get the tiens?
im trying to lower my car on stock shocks too

i was looking at tiens, skunk2's, eibach's, and progress

let me know, thanks.

Go with the Teins. they look awesome and i know 2 people that have been runing them with stock struts for about 35k+

I will be going with these springs on my 3 that i am getting in febuary.

i've been running s techs on my 05 hatch for over 3 years and just had to replace the shocks and struts at 89000 miles...shouldve done it before that, but was pretty broke for a while. i love the s techs, super low and it looks real aggressive, good cornering, etc.. i replaced shocks/struts with kyb gr2's, feels great now. im about to install the full chassis reinforcement kit from http://protegegarage.com and we'll really see the difference. along with my upgraded engine/trans mounts, my 3 is about to be the stiffest around(hump)

S Techs can get low but in the rear not so much..

Eventually gonna get coilovers though when my shocks & strut go out.

I've got tein s-techs and am looking to upgrade shocks/struts. I've heard amazing things about the koni yellows. does the spring rate of the s-techs match the recommended rate for the yellows? If not, which are the best shocks/struts to get?

thanks,
Mike

they are good complements of each other? I know koni recommends the pro-kit. I don't want excessive wear on the shocks/struts. I would rather just get the suspension components that work hand-in-hand if you know what I'm saying. So still say konis?

i know plently of people who run them no problem.
there isnt really alot of choices for struts/shocks for the 3.

most of the people who autox run the yellows so you know they are good :)
