Since im really short on money, and cant buy a sri im thinking of taking the ducts off the bottom of the airbox assembly so hopefully more air goes in. i know mazda put those to silence the bov for more luxury. would i gain any hp or even hear the bov if i remove those ducts? im also probably going to get a k&f filter.

You can hear the BPV (Bypass Valve) if the radio is off, you have new tires, and are on a freshly paved road with the windows up. haha Taking that little duct out of the bottom of the box won't do much for sound either.

i figured it wouldnt do much since its not like im changing it for an intake but its a free "mod" lol
just not looking to spend 200 bucks right now :D

Totally understandable. I think some of those changes are in ones mind... And the butt dyno backs it up! I did the same thing, and was like damn! It did make a difference! When in reality it probably didn't.

I gutted mine before I bought my SRI. Made it a little louder...like ever so slightly and increased the throttle response a little.

ye that's what I was looking for. wasn't expecting a gain of 20 hp or anything. if it was worth it to spend the time for a slight gain. thx for the info

Took it apart. For those that cant buy an intake I would recommend it. The bpv gets a little louder but throttle response is deffinetly noticeable. My only concern is that it might catch water from the radiator during heavy rains ?
