Where in Calgary would you say has the best prices on synthetic oil? Which brand/type would you recommend for a 2003 P5 (pretty much stock 102000km)? Also, what is the best oil filter to run with synthetic oil?

Up to date i have only used regular dino oil in my P5 and want to make the switch to synthetic

Thanks!

Ok, thanks. I got some Castrol syntek. I just need a new oil filter. I assume OEM is best? How are the K&N's?

So i did the oil change this weekend using the OEM filter. I also changed the timing belt and other 100k tune-up stuff. It did not seem to bad to get in there and change it out except for getting the alternator/water pump belt off was a pain in the ass. I would have been screwed without the air ratchet. Changed out to the winter rims/tires too.

I also did the evil M mod on the front.(guitar)

I should be good to go for the winter now.

K&N filters are the very best you can buy, but if you insist on an OEM filter, at least get the V6 one. The stocker is FAR too small.

I had a FRAM filter on and the car felt very bogged. I swapped to K&N and the car felt livelier.

I've been using 5w30 Mobil1, Wix filter. I've read that Penzoil synthetic is supposed to be better.

What type of synthetic are you guys using for gear oil in the MTX?

I run redline heavy duty shockproof in my trans, however this stuff is ONLY for high performance cars and MUST be changed very often as it breaks down quickly.

For a street car, redline mt-90 is great.
