i emailed and asked if it would work, he said it wont work w/ a 2003 car...but i guess he didnt know about the loop whole there.

well according to prototype5 the 41788 should work. but we'll find out here in a few days.
if not......im gonna be pissed lol

The 2005 Miata MX-5 keyfob will work, but you will need to get a 2005 Mazda 3 Key to be cut for the switchblade.

i compared the key thats in the switchblade i have right now and it looks exactly like my OEM P5 key its only got the edge, no groove down the middle (idk how else to describe it, also same pattern as my other P5 key (not OEM))

the new key arrived but the seller did not send me a kpu41788 like he had listed. he sent me a BGBX1T478SKE12501SKE125-01
i just contacted the seller and notified him of the mistake. hopefully he'll take it back and send me the correct remote. if not...ive got 2 switchblades up for sale one for a miata and one for a mpv

according to the fcc id website this fcc id brings up a 4 button remote, but i have a 3 button remote with the same id.

ive already emailed him and told him the mistake, because on the package he has the right remote id and all. but the remote itself is not correct. if he says he wont send me the right one, then yes i will file a paypal dispute and do w/e else it takes. i didnt pay $55 for the wrong remote.
but he does have a 180 warranty on his products so i dont think i should have any trouble, the seller has a very high positive rating as well

What's that about? Sucks about the wrong remote...let us know when you finally get to test it!

theres a .gov website dedicated to FCC IDs. you can run any fcc id there is and itll tell you exactly where its from and everything

quick question is the kpu41788 a 3 or 4 button remote?

I was always under the impression that the KPU41788 4238A-41788 was a four button, while there is another KPU41788 that has a three button. I don't think the three button comes in -41788 and therefore is incompatible with our P5s.

hmmm. Prototype5 can you provide input on this?

All the numbers have to be the same as I listed..I believe it is a four button remote, with a trunk popping button which will not do anything for the P5, also the Panic button operates differently and you have to continuously press it for a couple seconds before it will go off...which eliminates embarrassing yourself in front of your GF and a parking lot full of strangers.

You'll have to match these numbers exactly, you need the EXACT remote that has been listed to work with the P5...All the different models were tried and only this one worked on a p5...

Good luck...and for all the work, just contact onlinemazdaparts.com and pay the money for one you'll know will work.
